Oooh, I love to do these! Honestly, I usually use frozen fruit, because then you can skip the ice and they don't get watered down. Plus, with the flash-freezing food packing technology they have nowadays, most store-bought frozen fruit is fresher than the "fresh" stuff! If I were using up a lot of fresh I had, I'd freeze it for this.
Here's my favorite: in a blender with measuring marks on the sides, put in 1 cup frozen fruit, 8 oz of yogurt, 1/2 cup milk. Blend. Eat/drink.
Obviously, this is really flexible. Want a thicker smoothie? Use less milk. Thinner? More milk! Banana yogurt and frozen blueberries. Strawberries and strawberry yogurt. You can do it any way you can think of... PLUS it's a dairy serving and 1-2 fruit servings! How healthy can you get?

I just made up a low-cal one for my friends today. I put in a container of low-fat/sugar free vanilla yogurt into the blender. Added 1/3 can coconut milk, about 1/2 cup diet Sprite, 1/2 cup light cranberry juice, then added frozen mulberries from my yard (about a handful) Any other fruit will work. I had some slivered almonds on hand so I added a few of them for fiber and protein. I then added ice cubes a few at a time until it got real thick. I called it "Mulberry Madness" and everyone loved it, including the kids.

the best smoothies i've made so far consist of a fruit sorbet, freshly-squeezed juice (usually orange), and sliced fruit (for easier blending). the key is to dump in as many different types of fruits as you want, because they all somehow taste good together.
some tried-and-true items include:
-mango sorbet
-bananas <- this will give ANY smoothie, regardless of what fruit you put in, a banana taste
-strawberries
-raspberry sorbet
you can also substitute juice with milk or yogurt for a creamier texture (it's up to you how much liquid you want to put in), or even ice cream (vanilla is the best, but strawberry works well too).

Alot of times I don't use dairy since my dad is allergic. What I usually put in is blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, pineapple, and peaches. I love this because nothing in it is super watery or really goopy. What tastes really good is when you have super super fresh fruit. We have a bunch of land on our property, and we have natural growing blackberries. I love making smoothies when the fruit is so fresh. Sometimes I'll add a squirt of lemon in for a little tang, but it isn't necessary. Good Luck!â¥

I like to use a combo of fresh and frozen fruits, yogurt, milk or fruit juice and 1 or 2 ice cubes for frothiness. Try this combo- use frozen peaches, fresh raspberries, vanilla yogurt, 2 ice cubes and enough apple/ white grape juice or milk to bring it together. Simple and yummy!
