Cars don't have credit ratings

I assume that since you mentioned bad credit you don't have cash to spend on a car, you are looking to finance one. Your options are very limited. The first thing you need to do is clean up your credit, but since that takes quite a while, and you sound like you need a car NOW, you have only a couple of options. The best option for you would be to see if you have a friend or family member who might sell you a car they aren't using, allowing you to pay it out in monthly payments. This won't help your credit, but it will get you a car. If nobody you know is sitting on a car they aren't using, or if they don't trust you to pay it out, then you are left to find one at a used car dealership where they offer "No Credit/Bad Credit OK". Be prepared to pay an outrageous interest rate for your car. Because of that, I would select the least expensive vehicle that is running fairly well they have. An advantage to this is that if you make your payments regularly, it will help your credit rating.

Actually, you'd be surprised that it isn't that hard to get credit even if you have bad credit. The interest rate will be astronomical though. Plan on having a big down payment too. If you have a steady income you can get a car. Be careful about letting any dealership run your credit report though because too many credit inquiries can lower your credit score. You might want to check your credit and FICO score yourself. You can do this free once a year or if you have been turned down for credit. here's a link about credit

Credit has always been an important factor when buying a car but there are more and more lenders now have special finance program for customer who has less than perfect credit.

Due to the competitive market, most new or used car dealers will work extra hard to get you approved as long as you have job.

We would suggest you to shop on the interest rates first before selecting a vehicle, here are some good lenders who can help you through the process:
