Everywhere in America except in a very few places waiters get the federally mandated $2.13 an hour. But if you are working 4 tables at one time and each give you $5.00 there you go. And the thing is once you know how to wait tables no matter where you are you will be able to make cash. In fact one problem that many people have in the business once you start making the bucks it's hard to think about doing anything else. Ruby's is a good place to start since they have a training program. After that you can find places to make even more money.

I'm sure it varies with region and experience. I'm sure it's at least minimum wage ($5.15) or a bit better, like $6 or $7.
But this is good:
Benefits
Ruby Tuesday's total compensation package is more than just your paycheck - it includes an assortment of benefits that provide financial protection, help you save for the future, and allow you to enjoy personal time. Medical and dental care, life insurance, disability protection, and savings programs are just some of the benefits available. At Ruby Tuesday, you have the flexibility to create your own benefits package by choosing the plans that are best suited to meet your needs and those of your family.
Personal wellness amid the entire Ruby Tuesday team will, ultimately, lead to more productivity, energy and focus. That's why we provide eligible team members with competitive benefits that include:
Day One Health Care Plan (coverage from first day of employment)
Comprehensive health care plans (PPO)
Dental and vision plans
Paid vacation
401(k) plans
Life insurance
Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP)
Educational assistance
Credit Union

If you pay any attention to their training program, the regular pay will be insignificant to the TIPS that you can get. That is the sort of restaurant that can earn an attractive and polite young person some serious BUCKS.
I will try to remember to leave you 20%. Since my bill will come to about $40, that's $8 more for you. If you are waiting on 4 tables per hour, that could mean an extra $20 or more per hour.
But if you would rather work at a little coffee shop or luncheonette to get $2 tips ... go for it.

At every restaurant I have worked at as a waiter, I have received minimum wage, plus tips. Some states have special minimum wage for servers, Colorado does, I made 2.25. In Minnesota I made 5.25. All tips are supposed to be claimed as income so that you get taxed on them, but there are minimum amounts you have to tip, say 8% of your sales. With tips a friend of mine who worked at Ruby Tuesdays in Mississippi averaged 9 dollars an hour during the week and 13 or so dollars an hour on the weekend. His base pay was 2.75.

They don't have to pay minimum wage
because it's based on that they will receive tips.I don't like the way the system is set up. I believe they should be paid what they are worth by their employer. At lease minimum wage. Then if someone wants to tip them a Little extra that would be okay. I believe that they should charge a little more for meals To cover the increase. I think it's up to the employer to decide if the waiter is doing their job or not. Not by the patrons.

They only drug test for management positions, or if you are injured in a work related accident and are claiming worker's comp.
