You probably can't console her (or him). They need to spend time mourning the loss. But not too long. All you can do is be there to talk - try not to give too much advice. Also, don't get sucked into their drama. After a breakup, a person needs to sort things out, then they need to move on and get the person COMPLETELY off their mind. If they can't do that, then they may need counseling. There are a lot of sites out there on how to manage a breakup. Tell them to google "breakup"

let the person cry it out first bcos sometimes it helps to let it out and not bottling it inside of u, it can kill u know. Then take the person out, interaction wit other ppl who had once being in your shoes could help. People getin and out of a relationship, thats just the way it is. But the most important is to tell the person that before getting into a relationship she must pray to God for guidance. Again the relationship ended now bcos prbably it would have been a disaster

Not much you can do other than listen to their woes. Maybe take in a movie if they want or something to keep their mind occupied
for a while. Break ups hurt and nothing will ever change that. Dont speak too harshly about the ex. You never know if they will get back together some day. m

Mostly, at first, you listen. Let the friend "unload" on you. There are no hard and fast rules as to how long it will take for your friend to get past this (you didn't say if the relationship was longterm or not). Regardless, try your best to get your friend out to do things. Don't let her stay alone, Even if it's just going out to eat or to a movie. Get her involved. Most of all, be a friend.

You have to just be there for them...no matter how annoyed you will get about hearing the same thing over and over again. Unless you've been through a break-up, you have no idea how helpful friends are...my best friend got me through my break up after 2 years with the guy...

Let her know you are sorry things didn't work out...and it'll take Time for her heart to feel better, but it will...offer to take her out or go do things with her, to distract her from sitting and feeling blue...

Breaking up is just part of being in relationships...almost no one gets into their first serious relationship and has it last the rest of their life...breakups hurt, but we heal and go on...a little wiser, a little more cautious (often)...

Just be there for her to talk to or hug...it can mean the world to someone in pain...

Let him/her know there's better people out there for them to meet. Take him/her out to cool places where the nice people hang. Just get his/her mind off the breakup ya know? And just be there for them if they're having a hard time over it.

Take them out and show her a good time! Try and get her mind off of him. Also, if you have any friends that would actually be good to her then introduce them to each other.

listen to their sob stories and together you guys get over it. Take them out for a wild night and let them remember that life still goes on and there are more fishes in the sea or ocean.
