Because dietary management of gout is so restrictive and of limited benefit, medication is the best way to treat gout.

The primary dietary modification traditionally recommended is a low-purine diet. Avoiding purines completely is impossible, but strive to limit them. People with gout should learn by trial and error what their personal limit is and which foods cause problems.

Foods considered high in purine content include:

* Alcoholic beverages (all types).
* Some fish, seafood and shellfish, including anchovies, sardines, herring, mussels, codfish, scallops, trout and haddock.
* Some meats, such as bacon, turkey, veal, venison and organ meats like liver.

Foods considered moderate in purine content include:

* Meats such as beef, chicken, duck, pork and ham.
* Crab, lobster, oysters and shrimp.
* Vegetables and beans such as asparagus, kidney beans, lentils, lima beans, mushrooms and spinach.

Gout is a condition caused by high uric acid.

The foods to avoid most strongly are tomatoes, red wine, shrimps, prawns, sardines in actuality all fish with small bones.

There is a very good medication available called zylophrim which requires daily taking.

When you do get the odd attack if you are on zylophrim then you take a tablet called coltracine.

This tablet gives you a runny stomach but it is busy pushing out the uric acid so therefore remedies the attack very quickly.

I would also suggest that you have a glucose tolerance blood fast test.

It has often been discovered that in combination with the gout one developes diabetes.

Please see a doctor.

Gout is a condition where uric acid crystals build up in the body.
This can happen in the area of the big toe and cause a lot of pain.
Our foods contain purines; some foods are higher in this than others.
The doctor may place you on a lower purine diet (of which they will usually provide you a list of foods to avoid. There is also medications that can lower the uric acid in the blood

Apple cider vinegar has long been recommended for gout. The usual dose is about 1 tablespoon in a cup of water, repeating as often as you can. But I have to tell you that it has never worked for me. I have given in to official medicine, which offers some really effective drugs. Indomethicin may come from a factory, but it is a godsend as far as I'm concerned. So, try the apple cider vinegar (some people recommend eating cherries first, then following with the vinegar). If it works for you, great. If no, get a prescription. Good luck, and I hope this helps.

Gout is caused by a defect in purine metabolism. There are drugs to increase secretion of uric acid and others to treat the pain and inflammation. A diet low in high protein purine rich foods is indicated. See a hospital dietician for a diet and a doctor for medications. I assume you had an attack of gouty arthritis with high blood uric acid.
