My future in-laws are moochers!!!!!!! And the bad part is my fiance', pretends not to see how much they use us. He says"they're my family." TOTALLY UNDERSTANDLE!! But do I always have to do for them just becasue it's his family. And it would be so bad if when they do have money, they would take care of their own financial problems instead of blowing it and then coming to us to be rescued. How do I make him understand that there has to be a stopping point, before we end up in the hole?

XXXXXXXXXXXXX your fiance needs to wake up BEFORE you marry him. Don't think a ring will change him. The ring is more amunition for your in-laws to invade your space. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

I love my in-laws.If they are that way, just be patient and understand that everyone has a different way of life. He may not see it b/c this is how he was raised and it is all he knows. Try to be patient like I said and lovingly explain to him that you noticed some things that don't sit very well with you and you want to talk to him about how they make you feel. Maybe he can take a step back and see his family through your eyes and hopefully you will both be able to come out with a compromise to help with everything. Hope that helps! Have a wonderful day and congrats on the engagement!

I'll tell you, it sounds like my in-laws. Im glad my husband listen to me. His mother and step father make the same as we do, and has less bills, but yet , manage to always be broke. We have a home, they rent, we have two cars, they have one, we have to pay a sitter, they dont have kids under 18. yet they are always asking us for money because they are short on rent. OUr mortgage is 1200, their rent is 650! We make the same amount of money! I tell my husband that, and he gets it now. They always forget to pay us back, so I put my foot down one time and said to his mother when she asked for 40 dollars again, I said, I'll give it too you when you pay me back the 80 you borrow last month. I threatened my husband before that if he cant see how they are Im leaving. WEll, he always chooses me, so it works out. I got so mad at his grandmother, because we do so much for her. She is a retired nurse, with $5000 coming in each month from her and her dead husbands retirement checks and life insurance check. Well, she is the most greedy old lady out there. She wanted me to pick up her medicine and said its only $3 dollars, so I said, okay thats okay, but when I got there it was $35 dollars. That b#@*! She always ask for little favors like that that add up. I really hate my inlaws. Oh, and my mother in law, gave us nothing for our baby shower! But she promised us that she would buy the crib, when she heard my mother would by the dresser and the stroller, and my step mother inlaw would give us $200. Well, she never did. so two weeks before my due date, I bought one, and had the baby 4 days later. She seen our new son in the crib, and said "ah, what am i gonna buy now for you guys?" She knew what she was doing. Now she is promising my 6 year old to take him hawaii with her this september, and well, I told him, dont get your hopes up, because it might not happen, and he told her what I said, and well,,,i dont give a sh*%!

I personally love my in laws, but you do not have to cater to their every financial need. You aren't marrying them. Law down the law before it is too late. If you really don't have the money at the time tell them so and DO NOT feel guilty about it. It you let them run over you now it will never stop.

You have a problem that will only grow in the future. Rememebr: when we marry a man, we marry his family, too...that means, among other things, you will have legal obligations to them, as if they were blood relations.

Perhaps you might want to delay the wedding a while and think things over...?

When you figure out the answer to this question, please tell me! My mother-in-law is the exact same way. For example, my husband and I are expecting a check (back payment) later this week and his mother wants $200 out of it. Unfortunately it is going to her address by mistake and she said that she will not give it to me unless I agree to the $200. I think not!!!

Eventually he will come around and see what his parents are doing even though he may not now. My huband finally saw his mother for what she was doing to us and eventually yours will too; I just hope that it is sooner than later.

I know a few who call their inlaws, "The Outlaws"...

Gives a humorous side to the thought of inlaws driving harley's and having the perception of being really bad people, when they are just a pain most of the time.
