Did you know? It's legal and some employers and universities are now looking to see what you've been doing / saying on the world wide web. Nothing is secure, so please be careful with the pictures and rantings that each of you may submit. It could mean the difference between your dream job and standing behind that Taco Bell counter.

Please, listen up, guys. Your FUTURE employer is NOT monitoring your online activities. How can any one potential employer moniitor 300 million potential users?

Your CURRENT employer probably is monitoring your activities, and can do this legally and without having to let you know, as long as you are using his equipment and his lines.

This is one conspiracy theory that I categorize in my round file, under the desk.

This IS possible, and getting more feasable by the month. Technoogy is advancing faster than we can keep up and learn it all. We CAN be careful by using alaises, and by watching what we say and post on the web. People just don't have a clue how easy it is to find what others are doing onliine. It is totally public what is put up on the web. While it seems a silly thing to some, it is not silly to employers of big business or the government. Some highly paid jobs will have employees who do nothing but scan an applicatant which is a serious contender for a position in a highly sensitive field. Even in field which are not so sensitive, many employers just want to know the charactor of who they are employing as the employee will be representing that company or government. They want highly skilled individuals yes, but they also want those who have high moral charactor or fiber. So, with the web as it is today, scanners of potential employee candidates will search the web for the candidates activities. They do not waste this on initial candidates, only when it gets to the point of becoming a serious potential hire.

So, I completely agree with this question. Well, not really the question, but the statement of how prospective employers can and are scanning the web for activities of prospective employees. Use caution in what you post and what you say online in the forums out there. It just may come back to bite you in the behind.

Wow. That would be odd in most fields. I can't see many fields investing the time and resources to investigate someone that closely. Most people don't use their real names anyway, how would they know?
