this guy, i went out with once after talking for a few months over the phone--we had sex on the first date and both really ended up thinking it was a bad idea--we have not spoken since he told me that he was not looking for a relationship--he just called me out of the blue to "say hi"--we decided to hang out that night and just catch up--long story, i made a joke and told him that "no i have not thought about you or that night." it was very clear that i was joking. but in reality i have done nothing but think about him. he got pissed off at me for saying it and now will not return my calls or email--i tried to apologize--i dont get it--is this an ego thing? or is it a guys way of letting me know that he has thought about me too and he just does not to admit it? i am confused.

He may be confused as well depending on circumstances, but most likely over that time not speaking he realized how he felt and when you said that he never crossed your mind let alone the one night stand, he prob felt cheap, unimportant, maybe he had been hurt before. Try writng an email explaining better and if it is meant to become good, he will respond.

Both! Jokingly or not you probably would not have wanted to hear those words, so especially for a guy it's a hit to the pride meter. On the other hand he probably has thought of you and perhaps wanted to hook up again, however your joke may have been interpreted as a big "No", that you would not want anything to happen again.

Sounds like the guy just can't take a joke. Its possible that he's been thinking about you, too, but it sounds like a total ego trip to me. Maybe you should let him cool off and try to talk to him again.

no guy just calls you up out of the blue - he had been thinking about you and you slammed him when he was trying to come clean with his feelings - hurt him bad I bet. Probably thought you were laughing at him or making fun of him instead of joking. Sensitive stuff for guys you shouldn't tease.

It's a male ego thing. There's no such thing as a "joke" about a man's masculinity. In a society where a man's masculinity is constantly challenged, we have become very sensitive to such comments.

It's probably his way of letting you know that he has been thinking about you...you know how guys are with emotions. You probably just bruised his ego--give him a few days and see if he comes around. Good luck!

I think both of you have a communication problem (you're not talking openly with one another), but if BOTH of you are not willing to sit down a talk honestly about it, why waste your time?
