First of all, clean your mouse and try changing mouse pads. Following that, uninstall the drivers for the mouse and reinstall it. Also check mouse properties in control panel and check for reset device option or sensitivity, reduce it. That should resolve the issue. If the issue persists, connect another mouse and check if the issue persists. Also, scan the computer for spyware and viruses.

Your mouse might just going bad, when the sensor on an optical mouse start to die it can do that, or if you have a ball mouse and there is a small short in it. That of your computer is haunted with gremlins.

Usually if you have a optical mouse and have any sort of reflective/glossy surface or mouse pad it interferes with the mouse, and causes the mouse to move irrationally by itself. I would recommend getting a cloth type mouse pad with no reflection on it. Good luck.

If you are at work or somewhere computers are linked together it may be someone working on your computer. Also consider your mouse pad. Some decoratiove ones with bubbles inside or things like that move because the bubbles are moving.

Are you using an optical mouse? This is a common occurance with optical mice. Try using a darker, more uniform mousing surface.

If you have an optical mouse then it is probably dust playing tricks. If so, flip it over, blow on it, and see what happens. It is also possible for viruses, backdoors, and some remote access software to do this.
