I guess you would say it is the "Californian accent". They say "like" and "oh my god" a lot and over-intonate and are loud. I am here at my university and can't even enjoy peace and quiet because of them.

Does anyone else agree that they are annoying? If you do it, can you please stop?

I LOVE my Californian accent! but im afraid what you are witnessing is the "Valley Girl" accent... Im from california and i tend to say "like" after almost every word, and "dude" and stuff. But its not that annoying, i think u will get used to it, hang in there :)

Oh, please don't call it "Californian accent" - we don't all talk like that!!! Most of us call it the "Valley Girl" accent. And yes, it is extremely annoying - I'm sorry you have to hear it.

I say like and oh my gosh but not in the high-voice squeaky kind of way. i only say like when im refering to something similar to something else. and i only say oh my gosh when something serious happens, like my bestfriend gets dumped or something. not over chipped nails or whatever. im from california btw. its sometimes tiring when ppl squeal "OMG!!! Like, he was like, totally hott! And like he was like," but i got used to it. u will too. eventually.
