Is killing and torture ever justified in God's name?

People who wager war in the name of God ...just don't get it.
God is Love, Peace, acceptance, understanding.
You can accomplish more with words of wisdom than weapons.

People who wage war goes against God's teachings. Those who kill and torture will be punished.

They answered that in the movie DOGMA. It ticks God off when people wage war in God's name.
If God wanted someone killed, God would not have created them, or somehow that person would perish through other means.
God does not want man to judge man, that is God's Job!

waging a war in God's name is blasphemous. When He said Thou shalt not kill, He meant it. Now when it comes to kill or be killed, I'm not sure what God thinks of that. He did say turn the other cheek, soo... yeah not sure about that.

I bet he sits up there and laughs about the stupidity of some people. Hey if we were made to be like God as the Bible says then why should we enjoy real life TV like Big Brother and he shouldn't?

great question. God looks at the preservation of life. So, let's say someone is about to kill me, and the ONLY way I can save my life is by killing them, that is justified.

what did god think of the medieval crusaders? they waged war in his name, and killed many, many people. they're still considered courageous, and an honor to remember.
why? i don't know, it doesn't make any sense to me.
however, i can tell you, the commandment "thall shalt not kill" was mis-translated from its original text. the better translation really is "thall shalt not murder" ...but either way, killing someone in the heat of battle, i would consider, murdering, just the same. so where are you supposed to draw the line?
