Do you get annoyed if you don't receive a "thank you" wave or gesture?

It is common courtesy to at least give a gesture of thank you, but unfortunately we live in a society where politeness isnt always the case. In some cases we have to be patient with others, because alot of times we don,t realize on what side of the bed a person wakes up on.In some cases a person may actually be a very nic person, but just having a bad day. We as people should really consider these things befor we past judgement. Remember to put the shoe on the other foot. It depends on your motivation for doing it.
When you do something nice, it's nice to be acknowledged, whether it's in a car or giving away your futon.
If you EXPECT something from it, then you didn't really do it to be nice. Did you do it to be nice? or did you want the person to wave and in effect tell you that you're nice.
I go out of my way to do things for people that they don't even know about. It's kind of like the whole random acts of kindness thing.
When I let someone cut in front of me, I don't even notice if they gesture. I think about what their situation is....do they have to get home to young children? Is their husband mad because they aren't home yet? Is someone medically ill and they're in a hurry? Is the person just a stressed out jerk? (then he has way bigger problems) Is it a single parent that had kid problems before work and is running late for work....AGAIN.
There are so many other things that are way more annoying...besides, maybe you were looking down or at your clock when they waved.

I live in texas, and for years I allowed people to cut in front of me. I never once had a thank you or a wave or even acknowledgement. The only thing I received from a few of these idiots were nasty glares. That doesn't make sense that I was nice to them and they glare at me? Well I have stopped doing that now. If someone wants to cut in front of me they have to look at me and give me a gesture of asking. If they don't too bad, they will have to wait. I am sick of rude people.

I think if you are being nice to let someone in front of you, there should be some kind gesture. A wave would be nice.

No. I live in Greece. I wave a thank you gesture to people I give way to, in the hope that I will embarrass them. Water-off-a-ducks-back though. Giving way is a sign of weakness here!

If I am in a bad mood and they don't wave or anything I get a little angry but it leaves me quickly because I think about all the times I cut others off without a thank you. If I am in a good mood then I hardly even notice it.

I've learned to stop caring if I get one or not. So long as no one wrecks or gets hurt, I'm cool. Too many stupid drivers out there these days so if someone's in such a hurry they don't have time to wave, or if the Grandma driver is afraid to take her hands from the wheel, I guess that's the result that's fine with me!

I expect it! I do get annoyed if I don't get something. I always wave or something when someone is kind enough to let me cut in front of them.

I do get annoyed b/c I feel that they should at least be grateful for the thing that I done for them; a small gesture is better than none at all.
