I don't understand. It's simple. It takes only a few minutes (technically, a few seconds), So, why not wash your hands?

I don't know why they don't wash their hands. I think it's totally gross. I have been in the bathroom plenty of times when the person next to me just came out and walked out. I get really annoyed by that. Always use paper towels to turn on faucets and open doors. Sometimes I think people do it to gross other people out! I was at a buffet once and this lady never washed her hands after taking "No.2" and I immediately left that place and never came back again. For all I know, she could of went back to the buffet and touched all the spoons and handles on the food line.
People are so ghetto when they don't wash their hands!

Some people are just gross.

And I mean REALLY GROSS.

If they can't take the time to wash their hands, they're obviously LAZY, gross, or their are a (VERY) few other possibilities:

1. something's written on their hands
2. they were waiting for someone in the bathroom and didn't even go to the bathroom...
3. they are going to use hand sanitizer right when they get out of the bathroom (VERY UNLIKELY)
4. they hate the scent of the soap and will wash/clean their hands elsewhere

Well... that's all of the possibilities I can think of (besides LAZINESS OR GROSSNESS!)

I use hand sanitizer. I don't think that washing at a public restroom does much good. You touch a faucet handle that's loaded with bacteria - people who just wiped touch it. You use disposible paper towels loaded with 'spray'. You touch the door handles that are loaded with bacteria. The soap is disgusting and not animal friendly (for the most part). So, I carry a purse sanitizer with me and use that.

Sometimes I will rinse my hands well with hot water, use a paper towel or my arm to turn the faucet off, and then use my sanitizer. I then use a towel to open the door. It may sound OCD, but it's cleaner than touching all the nastiness in a public bathroom.

I don't wash my hands when I can't leave the bathroom with cleaner hands after I wash them.

For instance:
You wash your hands, you then have to turn off the water (dirty handle) you have to use a blow dryer, then the first thing you have to do is PULL the door to the bathroom open (dirty handle) in order to get out.

If I can figure out a way to make a "clean getaway" then I'll wash my hands. If my hands are going to get dirtier by washing my hands, then I don't. I make the assumption that my privates are cleaner than something everything else and his brother has laid their hands on.

It really depends.

Some people neglect to because they are lazy, some just don't care. Sometimes someone may have something written on their hand that they don't want to forget. Some people figure there isn't enough time (though I agree it takes but a few seconds), and some people just don't because for some strange reason they want to be gross.

I got another question for you:
Given that so many people don't wash their hands after using the restroom, why the hell is the handle on the INSIDE of the bathroom door?? Even if you do wash your hands, you still touch what they did! It defies logic!

I don't know, but I work at a Barnes and Noble and it's amazing the number of women who don't wash their hands after using the restroom. It grosses me out! I use a papertowel to open the door when I'm leaving.

I agree with you. Why don't some people wash their hands in public restrooms. I guess it all goes back to not having manners.

People can be quite lazy - I see guys all the time - who NEVER wash their hands - and I have asked why - the response, "I was just pissing" - ummmm still unsanitary. I don't get it either.
