I had the exact same situation when I was a kid. We had 4 cats, 2 horses, 2 hamsters, 4 rabbits, and no dogs. My dad doesn't like dogs.
Sorry to be the one to tell you, but it's pretty much a lost cause until your grown up with a house of your own.
15 years later I am married with a child a husband and a house... and now I have the dogs I always wanted. Best of luck.

If your parents say no, then you need to wait. If you love dogs, spend some time volunteering with a local no-kill shelter. This is good for several reasons. It will allow you to love and care for dogs who don't have homes. It will help the homeless dogs stay happy. It will teach you what's necessary for having a dog (most are very very different than cats). It will show your parents that you can be responsible, that you know what it takes, and that you are ready.
The petfinder link below will show you some shelters in your area. Try contacting them or visiting their website to see if you can volunteer.
Good luck to you. : )

Ok try the large dog approach ,like a Saint Bernard, and feed the cats to him . problem cured. Just kidding there are some people who just think dogs are too much to deal with , a cat is self sufficient, and looks after them self. how about finding a stray and feeding it ? It will stick around out side and then one day they may warm up to the idea of a dog .

Try making a deal with Mom and Dad.
'If I get a dog, Mom, I will do some extra chores around the house'. Be more helpful to Mom and Dad before you get that puppy. When they see you are trying and working toward getting what you want, you will be rewarded.
And, you might want to get your grades up in school and get better marks on exams.
That might impress them and want to reward you in return for being so attentive to your school grades and helpfulness around the house.
Good luck.

I guess you'll have to face that they won't give in and wait until you have your own place where you can make your own rules. Life's not always fair. Or you could look for a dog-loving family to adopt you! Or you could volunteer at the local humane society - they're often looking for responsible kids to help them train and socialize their puppies.

If your parents do not want a dog then you most likely will have to wait until you move out on your own
Good Luck :)
