I think it's excess fat caused by the carbs in beer. I also think that a beer belly is also attributed to a lack of exercise that sometimes comes along with a lifestyle when you tend to drink too much beer... like sitting around partying.

The fat of the beer drinker collects at the belly as a result of excessive deposits of fat around the liver. It doesn't have to be beer, obviously...anyone who eats a sugar-and-carb heavy diet and doesn't exercise enought is susceptible to these fatty deposits accumulating and giving them the beautiful badge of honor that is the beer belly.

Beer, unfortunately just has too many calories and carbs associated with it. But I just can not seem to put it down. But the less active you are the more you belly grows. Drink lots of water after a hard nights drinking to flush your system. That's what I do and run like hell on my treadmill.

Really, it's from sitting around and doing nothing. It could also be called a donut belly, too much pudding belly whatever. It's just from lack of excercise that the fat stores in the belly, or the behind. So it's just fat.

Beer contains a lot of carbohydrates and sugars. A beer belly is the development of fat from the excess sugars and carbohydrates not used by the body.

it is a lot of accumulated fat, both subcutaneous and visceral.
Subcutaneous means the fat that lies just under the skin and before the organs. Visceral means fat that lies in and among your organs. A little of each is necessary for protection of what's inside, but too much of a good thing, ... obviously bad. In particular, visceral fat is worse for the fact that it places pressure on vital organs. However, just being grossly overweight regardless of which type of fat you may have, has serious health-effects.

Is just fat getting trapped between your abdominal muscles and your skin.
