Has there any been anything that showed one is more valid than another? If not, then please stop telling people they are going to hell, because one it is just rude, and two you have no idea if what you are saying is even remotely true.

Example:This is an answer I just read on another question...
The question was: What is Atheist?

An agnostic is someone who is not sure whether God exists. There is hope for an agnostic, since once they really question, they will find the answers they seek.

An atheist is someone who does not believe (there is no doubt to them) that God exists. Unless this person becomes a believer, he/she will spend eternity in hell.

I am Agnostic and have found many answers, but none of them show me that Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Taoism, Hinduism, Paganism, or any other -isms are anything more than manmade ideas about the supernatural.

I do see your point. As a Christian, I get very frustrated sometimes.
It makes no sense to me to think there is no Creator.
I see, in "religion", man reaching out to God.
In Christ, I see God reaching down to man.
I believe that God will reveal Himself, in His Own good time. He doesn't need my help. All I'm supposed to do is tell people what I believe and why...He can handle the rest.
I sure wish people could understand that...it would save SOOO much arguing!!

it particularly is the character of concept. in case you think some thing, you disagree with something or everybody that contradicts it. it particularly is genuine for each concept, which incorporate atheism. Many atheists are confident that Christians are incapable of unfastened concept. when you consider that I even have become a Christian I even have performed greater questioning than I ever had till now. on an identical time as Christianity has a reliable set of ideals, we are inspired to earnings, meditate, and reason on the significant issues in existence. Pastors do no longer dictate what we ought to have faith and do. The Bible dictates what the pastor ought to pontificate. Atheists, on the different hand, are greater dogmatic than many Christians i comprehend. they gained't enable for the opportunity of God's existence or entertain any info that helps it.

I don't know that my religion is the 'right' one... i read the bible and i go by the teachings. So far the church that i attend goes by the same teachings... I feel that when a person or church starts adding to or taking away from the teachings of the bible then they are risking a lot... personally i dont want to take the chance so i stay as close to the bible as possible... if im wrong then that will be between me and God.

As far as telling people that they are going to hell because they dont believe the same as you? I have to agree that it is wrong... What you believe is between you and God... Trust your Bible and your heart is all I can say.. I cannot Judge you because there is only One Judge... I can try my best to teach you what i think is right but you have to believe for yourself and if you dont then at least i know i tried to show you what i believe to be the right way.

'You've got your
truth, and I've got my truth. You find a faith that works for
you, and I'll find a faith that works for me.'

Well here's my question:

How many conflicting versions of the truth can actually be true?

I'm not going to use this space to promote an agenda today -- or
to push any specific claim of Ultimate Truth. I'm just going to
highlight a very simple, logical reality that each of us, in our search
for Truth, must recognize. Pardon me if I offend you, but I'm
going to put it bluntly.

It's impossible for all religions to be true.

In other words, if Islam is essentially true, then Buddhism,
Hinduism and Christianity are not. If Buddhism is essentially true,
then Islam, Christianity and Hinduism are not. And so on.

How can I say such a thing? Because if you *really* study these
religions, it will become clear that each makes bold, fundamental
assertions about reality that are not compatible with the others.

For example, Hinduism states that divinity is present in everything.
Christianity, Judaism and Islam all assert that God is distinctly
separate from what he has created. The implications of these different
views run very deep, and they are fundamentally incompatible. It's
logically impossible for both views to be true.

So why bring this up, anyway?

Well first I have to make a confession. I would *like* to believe
that all religions could be true. I would personally *like* to believe
that all paths lead to God. It feels good. It's a kinder view of
the world. It puts everyone on equal footing.

But it just doesn't make sense.

Truth is, by nature, exclusive. There are always more wrong
ways to do just about anything than right ways. There are always
more wrong answers to any given question than right ones.

True?

And you know what? This really raises the stakes. It puts a
real sense of urgency in our search for truth, because it shows
that if we're not careful, we can fall for a half-truth.

On the other hand, if you diligently search, seek
out the facts, and your spiritual journey brings you to
a place where the pieces fit in place - if everything makes
logical sense and it feels right in your heart - then you
should not hesitate to share your joy with others.

OK... now let's stop right now and make something very clear:

If we possess the truth, it doesn't give us the right to
be unkind to those who disagree. It didn't give Bin Laden the
right to declare Jihad, hijack airplanes and fly them into the
World Trade Center. It didn't give so-called 'Christians' the
right to kill people in the Crusades. It doesn't give us the
right to be disrespectful or violent.

What it does give us is the right - and the confidence -
to go out into the marketplace of ideas and *see* if our Truth
stands up to hard scrutiny.

C.S. Lewis was talking about this very thing when he said,
'You don't need to defend a Lion. You just need to let him
out of his cage.'

If you really do have the truth, then you have nothing to fear.
You don't need to burn books or censor speech. Truth is its
own best defense.

In our modern, sophisticated culture, spirituality gets
locked up in a cage. It's a taboo subject. Discussions about
religion are not considered 'polite conversation.' So nobody
talks about it.

The result? People don't talk to each other. They live in
fear and isolation.

Some folks harbor ideas and notions that make absolutely no
sense, but because those ideas are never brought out into the
light of day, they're never questioned.

Others have great wisdom, but they're afraid to share it with
others!

How sad.

In your search for the truth, then, know that you're not just
looking for something that sounds good. As with any other kind
of truth, it may *not* feel good all the time. Know that you're
looking for something definite, something that will by nature
make some pretty bold claims.

Also, please understand that if someone tells you they
possess the truth, they're not being arrogant. Fact is, they're
either sadly deceived or else they're right. You can't put
someone down for being deceived, and you can't fault someone
for being right!

The real challenge is to discern the difference.

Honey, lemme tell ya, I've been a few different things and all I can say to you is I found what is right FOR ME. Maybe all religions are somehow connected, maybe many paths lead to the same destination, who knows? Could be we're all wrong. I'm doing what I feel is right, I feel complete and finally I feel safe.

I've been chastised on here for evangelizing........... I didn't think I was, I thought I was giving those who were seeking a place to start, not "recruiting". I never told anyone they were wrong or going to hell. I've only been Christian for a few weeks and I've found we are the most hated people in the world. Funny, growing up, we had to hide our witchcraft behind another religion and now it seems I have to hide my Christianity behind witchcraft

The threat is what coerces a weaker minded individual to commune with a group (i.e. you're going to hell).
A like minded group is more attractive than an outcast.
Being part of a group is more appealing than being alone.
Popular thought is easier to spread than individual thought.
If I want to sell toothpaste, I'm going to tell you that your teeth will fall out if you don't use toothpaste. I'm also going to tell you that my paste is better than any other. If I start telling you that at an early age, and everyone around you is using the paste, and telling you that your teeth will fall out if you don't, you're more apt to believe it, without question, and you're likely to tell everyone you come across that they should be using your toothpaste too. You'll also be quite certain that someone using another toothpaste will lose their teeth, and look upon them with disdain, or force your belief in your toothpaste upon them. You've always used it, always heard it works, why would anybody use anything else?
A lot of people use religion to sustain their morals, or to give them reason to live. Others use it as an accepted form of prejudice.
A reason to exclude others from their privileged group.

Well, Buddhism is as right for me, as being an atheist is to you. Whatever works works. If you're happy believing in nothing, GREAT! For someone else, it might be $2 whores and a month old cheese cake. To that again I say, GREAT. I don't feel the need to say how right I am for believing what I believe nor how wrong someone else is to believe what they believe. I don't give a damn what anyone believes so long as they're happy with it. Because if they're not happy with what they believe then it means they're likely to try to make others unhappy about their beliefs which eventually leads to bombings, beheadings and such things.

So then, Jesus was wrong? Sorry, but it doesn't fly. I agree that to say that Person X is going to Hell is wrong, as we should never judge others. However, to say that someone who does not beleieve in God is going to Hell is on the money.

P.S. Yes, I wrote the above, and am flattered that you quoted me. Look at it this way - no atheist would be offended as atheists do not beleieve in Hell. As for agnostics, if this causes them to really question, how can that be wrong?

i can tell u that everybody is religeous! how? religeon means group of beliefs and principles of behavior of individual or group of people.now atheists have thier beliefs and behaviores, and thats thier religeon.
the main difference between different religeons is the source ,manmade religeons including atheistism and what's called god made religeons (jeudism, christianity, and islam)
now why one god makes different religeons!
the ansewer is that there is only one god religeon that has been present since the bigining of humanity with certain beliefs and group of behaviores.however this god made religeon have been sent to humanity through different messengeres ,at different times and places.and this what make people think that there r different god religeons.
the question is why the three know "god religeons" contain different beliefs and behaviores?
the ansewer is that you can find many similarities between the three, however the differences r manmade.i.e jeudasim and christianity have been modified by the men of reliegeon through out the history.and this is proved !.
Islam remains the only pure god religeon and this is proved as well.

There are no absolutes regardless of the belief system involved. None can be conclusively proven as true nor false; they are true to those who believe in them and false to the ones who don't. Given that, there are no right beliefs nor wrong beliefs.. it is just a matter of personal opinion.
