Man, i've got some dumb family members!!

i work at a grocery store and i see old ladies try and bring back frozen milk all the time, it looks really nasty and i wouldnt recommend doing it, milk is not that expensive

Yes, you can freeze whole milk, but as someone else suggested, be aware that it will expand when freezing and make sure the container will accomodate this...and when it is thawed (in the REFRIGERATOR, NOT ON THE COUNTER!) it will still be usable, but it may separate, (2% or skim milk will show less separation). You should shake the container vigorously after it is thawed to help recombine the water and the milkfat.

When I was stationed in Japan, we bought our milk from the commissary, already frozen. It really doesnt hurt the milk to freeze it, just make sure there is enough room in the jug or carton for expansion so it doesnt burst.

not dumb at all. depending on how much milk you want to save, either put in ice cube trays, if using for coffee, or put container in, uncapped until frozen, then cap to keep freezer smell out.
