I need to lose weight and want to know exactly how many carbs I should consume in one day?

Initially, for the first week, you have to keep your daily consumption of carbs under 20 grams a day. This basically means only eating meats, cheeses and some nuts. After the first week, when your body goes through the metabolic conversion, where you will start burning stored fat for your primary source of energy, you can have as much as 60 grams per day. Be sure to read labels carefully. Also, since fiber is not digested by the body, is doesn't count. You can subtract grams of fiber from the total carb count for that food item. Liek say something has 15 grams of carbs and 3 grams of fiber, then you are only worried about 12 grams of carbs (15-3=12). Good luck!
