here's the $900 secret that people learn in bartending school. (giving it to you for free should earn me 10 points, eh?) :o)
Go buy a metal pour-spout and a shotglass that holds one and a half ounces.
Put the pourspout on a liquor bottle filled with water. (no sense wasting the good stuff.) Practice pouring into the shotglass while counting to 6. (Make sure you get to 6 right when the water hits the line on the shotglass. )
Once you have it mastered, pour water into a different glass and do your count. Then pour the water from the new glass into the shotglass to see how you did. Once you have pouring a shot mastered, you can make any drink in the world.
Go buy a copy of "The Bartender's Black Book," and get ready to do some math! (I hope you've got your fractions down!) If counting to 6 gives you 1 1/2 ounces, then each number stands for 1/4 of an ounce. So if a recipe is:
1 oz. vodka
1/2 oz. triple sec
1/4 oz Rose's lime juice
you know that means:
1-2-3-4- vodka
1-2- triple sec
1- Rose's lime juice.
You just made a kamikazi!
Now start practicing, and when you decide what 50 drinks are the most popular, make some flashcards with the name of the drink on one side and the recipe on the other. Quiz yourself on ingredients and measurements for the top 50 drinks. After you have them memorized, get a recipe box to hold your flashcards, and you can take it to work with you in case you forget how to make something. Good luck!

If you're looking for recipes, search online. You will be amazed at just how many there are. If you're looking to actually learn to pour drinks like a bartender. Then the best place to go would be any of your local bars. There's no better way to learn to pour drinks than by actually watching a bartender do it. I've bartended for quite few years, and that's how I learned. It's an easy way to learn recipes too.
