Biblically in Timothy some people interpret that women should not be pastors, but I don't think that is what the verse meant. The Bible doesn't say that spiritual gifts are only given to men - they are very much given to women. Christ is the head of all churches (or at least He should be) so the word is given from God to the pastor, then passed on to the congregation. What would it matter if the word was given through a male or female - both are open vessels to the Holy Spirit.

I will not resort to using scripture. I will use the brain God gave me and think for myself, as women are able and intelligent enough to do.
YES. Men are not any more capable of feeling the love of God or in spreading the word of God than are women.
If anything, women are probably the more spiritually divine and aware sex. There is a reason that we are more in tune with our feelings and less inhibited about showing feelings.
God is not a man. God is the formless, genderless, omnipresent, eternal energy source which is the process of life itself. Not a being, or an old guy with a long white beard and flowing robes sitting in a throne in some heaven in outer space somewhere. We are each an individuation of God, created of the same matter as God. Together we are the sum (son) total of God.

Here's both sides of the argument for you.
"Women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says. If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church” (1 Corinthians 14.34-35, NIV).
The above verse, and a few other verses from Paul are the scriptures those opposed to women preachers use. Notice, however, that very few churches actually follow the ENTIRE verse which says that women should not even be allowed to speak.
Those who believe women should be allowed to be preachers use the following verse from Acts as a support their argument:
In the last days it will be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams. Even upon my slaves, both men and women, in those days I will pour out my Spirit; and they shall prophesy.
It would also be accurate to translate prophesy as preach. So, according to this passage, God will pour out his spirit on men and women and they will preach.
Also consider Galatians 3:28
There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
Also consider the fact that there were 3 women prophets in the Old Testament. I can only remember 2 of them right now, Miram and Deborah. Deborah was also a judge.
Not a simple answer is it? You can see what a tough argument it is.
Personally I believe that Paul's answers reflect the culture of his time. Of of my mentors is a woman minister, as is my wife. I identify with a group of Baptists that supports women in ministry called the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. So, obviously I agree that women should be allowed to be pastors

I agree with the person who wrote about I Timothy 3 (it says that a pastor must be the husband of one wife) and that was going to be my answer, and also that the Bible says that a woman is not to teach, or have authority over a man in the church. It also says that women are not even supposed to talk in church.

Because, Christ is the head of the church,
Scripture says the husband is the head of the woman,
In other word, he is to lead the woman,
to safeguard her, to protect her.
As Christ leads the church, the same way as a husband is to lead his wife, the wife is to be in subjection, not in a subserviant way, but in respect of her husband's God given authority.
Again, as the scripture state, God created the man first, then woman.
Men are to lead under the headship of Christ.
Woman are explicitly told to teach the younger women to love thier husbands, and care for thier children.
Women are not given Biblical authority over men.

Yes. A lot of people quote Timothy when this comes up, but I think they're taking him out of context. What he's talking about when he asks women to be silent in church is when they're in the congregation. Remember, that in the early church men and women sat segregated. Women were uneducated, and if the minister said something they didn't understand, they would shout across the sanctuary to their husbands. This was the problem that Timothy was addressing. I'm certain that God never intended women to never speak. Jesus refers to the church as his bride.

God said to spread his word...he didn't say for just MEN to spread the word.
Deuteronomy 31:12
Gather the people together, men, and women, and children, and thy stranger that is within thy gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and fear the LORD your God, and observe to do all the words of this law:
God didn't ever exclude women from anything...why would he have a problem today having women preach and spread his word.
