There were two named trees in the book of Genesis. There were many other trees, but the focus is on the Tree of Life and
the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.
Genesis 2:9 (NKJV)
And out of the ground the Lord God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
The Tree of Life is the tree that Adam and Eve were to eat of...it kept them alive and kept them from aging. It appears that Christians will eat from it in heaven. It will keep us from aging and we will live forever. It is a picture of Christ...who is our access into eternal life.
Rev. 2:7 (NKJV)
He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God." '
Rev. 22:14 (NKJV)
Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.
The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil was a tree they were not to eat from.
Yes, as in all sin we commit, we resolve to do so in our hearts and minds before we do.
This tree...the Tree of Knowledge will not be in heaven. We will not be able to disobey God in heaven (Praise God!!). He will remove sin and the ability to sin from us when Jesus returns. I'm really looking forward to that.

A common misconception is there were apple trees, because Adam and Eve ate an apple. The Bible reports that they ate fruit (NOT APPLES, necessarily).
So, we don't know that, but since the garden of Eden is the juncture where the Tigris and Euphrates rivers meet (in Iraq), a good start is to see what kind of fruit trees grow there.

The trees were papier-mache with a plastic base and had little bits of green thingies hanging from them that swayed in the breeze. And if the wind was strong enough and in the right direction, they played an up tempo version of 'how much is that doggy in the window'

It was the tree of knowledge, there is no such tree anymore and it never has a botanical name. It was simply a sacred tree that God placed in the garden.

Some people believe they were pomegranate trees, but no one really knows.
In scripture the tree is simply referred to as the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
