In the old testament in particular, God does on occasion take responsibility for those things that he fails to prevent. However, that does not mean that God has moral culpability for for such things.

Evil is caused by sin and by choices made by people. God does not wish ill on anyone. He wants everyone to be safe and saved.

While God could prevent things, that does not mean He is "guilty". We have free choice and God honors people's choices.

If you believe in God, he has already committed genocide with the extinctions of plenty of historical races and cultures.

Further, if you believe in a literal interpretation of the Bible, he has a "chosen" people, implying racism to go along with his genocidal proclivities.

Better for you, me and everyone else to just be a good person, and don't believe in God.

Failing that, at least do not try to literally believe everything you read in an ancient text that has only 25% bearing on the modern world. Try to understand the meaning behind the parables of the Bible.

Perhaps God should just prevent everything and save us all the trouble. Everyone will be in the same social class with the same laws, rules and regulations to govern the world, but then.. why would we need those rules? God would make sure than anyone without a pure heart would never have been born.. and the world will be perfect.. WAIT.. that was EDEN.. and Adam and Eve screwed it up..

We took our free will and ran with it. We are all different people with different thoughts and feelings. God is not going to prevent things from happening.. but rather judge those for their deeds when the day comes.

God is indeed powerful enough to stop hunger, war, disease and other ills...but what would be the point in that? The God I believe in has given men free agency, the power to do things as they see fit, even if that means hurting other people in all sorts of ways. Now, I don't believe God is sadistic and just sits back and watches all this suffering. I believe He suffers enormously but has no power to force us against our will, because the minute God tries to take away our willpower, He will cease to be God.

The sad thing is that many of our powerful men and women in the world have this God complex, whereby they think they are more enlightened than the rest and try to impose their will, their solutions on us. That's where all the suffering (the wars, the hunger, the social ills) comes from.

Either god can't prevent genocide, or god doesn't prevent genocide. He's either omnipotent or omnibenevolent: take your pick.

And don't give the "free will" arguement. A truly omnipotent entity would be able to create a situation where we had free will but there is no genocide. If you say that he can't create such a situation, he's not omnipotent.

God intended for us to dwell on this earth together, until he comes for us. Genocide and death of another is only by the hands of satan. He plots us against each other. God is not a complacent God, but he has outlined for us his will..."thou shall not kill", thus, we should forgive our neighbor, we should bring all men unto God. God could never be guilty...how could we judge him...he that created us, he who is almighty. We are given a choice between good and evil. Our choice determines where we will be in the after-life.

God has no control over the actions of people. People can commit genocide and they can prevent it too, if they are willing to do it.

How do you think He would prevent genocide? By making us Robots with no free will?
Would you prefer that?

Or not making us at all.
No people...no genocide.

If you are a "Christian" read the Bible and then you will know what God is all about.

It isn't a case of whether God could, it's whether God should. We were given free will and wonder full world to live on, what we do with these gifts is entirely up to us. As to the ills of the world, if we aren't willing to do anything about them that, too, is our decision. Wailing because someone ELSE doesn't do something while doing nothing yourself is the ultimate abrogation of your membership in the human race.

if God was truly a God of man, why can't he stop genocide? why can't God stop all the wrong doing? because the real God or Gods are man. man declares war, man kills not God, and man decides the faith of another. Where is this God that people speak of? why won't he come down and prove he is God of man? maybe God is chickenshiot.
