OK, so let me see if I get this straight, there are two golf tournaments: the PGA (or Professional Golf Association) and the LPGA (or the Ladies Professional Golf Association). So, now, we have Michelle Wie competing (or trying, anyway) in the PGA.

Is this discriminatory against men? What if Tiger Woods said that he wanted to compete in the LPGA? They'd say No because that tournament is for women only. Well, since men play in the PGA, how can a woman compete in this tournament?

Don't you think that they should either not let women compete in the PGA or allow men to compete in the LPGA? As it stands right now, there is an exclusive golf organization for women, but not for men. To me, this is sexism.

What's your opinion? We'd like to know.

P.S. To Danzahn - you are missing the point. Michelle Wie CAN compete in the PGA. Tiger Woods CANNOT compete in the LPGA.

Lets face it. (And Im ready for all you ladies that will bash me for this) Men and women ARE NOT EQUAL. Thats why they allow Wie to attempt to make the PGA Tour.

Men cant hit the ball way further than women can, simply due to more upper body strength. So, because women didnt stand a chance winning the PGA, they created the LPGA. Now, allowing a man to play in the LPGA would kinda defeat the purpose, no??

Unless, of course, youre a wusssy, and hit the ball like a girl, which is why you might want to play on the LPGA - because you couldnt stand a chance against the guys on the PGA?

k, a woman competing in the pga means that they are good enough to compete at that level. Pga does not have the word "men" or "man" in it, so technically you cant say no to a woman for competing in it. The reason why the men dont compete in Lpga is because that is a lower standard, and professionals want a challenge. Lpga was formed for women, but pga was not formed only for men.

Why would Tiger Woods want to play in the LPGA? There is no talent or money in the LPGA. And Michelle Wie should win a LPGA event before trying to play with the PGA.

When it comes down to it, why would the men want to compete in the LPGA? Where would the challenge be? As it stands now the best male golfers in the world are better than the best female golfers (please don't misconstrue this statement as my belief that female athletes are inferior to male athletes, far from it actually. However, it is true that the best male athlete is generally better than the best woman in the same field. I look forward to the day this changes). Some women golfers want to play in the PGA because it represents a challenge in a game where men are the dominant force (for now at least).

In another analogy, I race mountain bikes and in these races there are age groups. You are allowed to race in your age group but not above. You are, however, allowed to race in a younger age group. They call this "Challenging yourself" as the younger group is generally faster.

I say it's a good thing and more power to them.

No woman should be allowed to have a sponsor exemption to play on the PGA. But, if any woman can qualify for the U.S. Open then she can play. It is the only PGA event that is truly open to anyone. No, women cannot compete on the PGA as is proven over and over again and they should never be allowed to play on the men's tour. Isn't the acronym for golf, "gentlemen only ladies forbidden."

It's women trying compete with men.. Maybe she can make the cut, but she wont win and she knows that. It kinda gets under my skin too. There's no guy who wants to play in a girls tournament though. I had to wrestle a girl in high school one time - i pinned her in ten seconds and i've never heard the end of it. I think men against women just shouldnt be allowed.
