They don't want to . As long as the blood line is there its fine from their point of view. If there to tell the public then they know the Catholic church would find out and do everything to eliminate the bloodline. So basically the bloodline prefer to preserver the line rather than risk it being destroyed - the best for this is to keep it a secret for now...That's where teabling disagreed - he believed they had the duty to come out and tell the public..hence the plot of the book...

As was said by Sleepy Toads, it would be possible that they would have been killed for coming out.

As for the Shroud of Turin, they are not positive that that is the shroud of Jesus Christ at this time so making a positive match would essentially be useless if they could obtain DNA from the shroud.

And for the record and other background information for the book, it is still debated today whether Jesus had 'half'-brothers and sisters - siblings that were related through Mary's blood, but not through Joseph.

Also, John the Baptist is/was technically related to Jesus through Mary's sister, Martha. And thus Jesus did have an extended family as some people tend to ignore.

((For Christian Girl and Princess and the rest that come in here with like answers, have you ever been to a book store? The book is listed in the FICTION section for a reason and people are smart enough to enjoy (or not enjoy) the book for that reason as it is an entertainment piece and for the history behind it. Just like reading a fictional book on pirates. Pirating actually did happen in history... though maybe -and almost certainly- not the way you imagine it. Check up the history on pirating to see what I mean.

The debating of the plot of books has gone on for many MANY years... unless you have been shut in a cave as a hermit for the last century, but then again you wouldn't have heard of this book, movie, or any other popular entertainment device. This question is in regards to the plot in the book, NOT real life. Please keep those two straight.

In all reality, this should be a boon for those of the Christian faith because, for those who are serious it brings people to be more interested in the history and details of Christianity, something I should think any of the Church would favor. For those who are not, it won't matter or change them in any sense.))

i've got have been given analyze the e book and seen the movie. i do no longer the two the location that reliable. The movie replaced into aweful almost as good. yet Is the Jesus that they speaking regarding the fact. enable me ask you some thing. If the Vatican fairly did disguise up the fact why? it would not make journey. What for? Their could desire to be no reason to cover up what the e book say's is the fact. even have you ever particularly analyze the previous testomony. The Da Vinci Code could desire to no longer attack that element of the bible and do you comprehend why. by way of fact its 1000's of years previous. So in the event that they have not attacked the OT what has that have been given to do with Jesus? each and each little element thats what. did you comprehend in spite of the undeniable fact that that the OT replaced into written way before the time of Christ and yet it speaks of course what variety of guy or woman the Messiah could be. analyze !saiah fifty 3 and tell me that may not Jesus. yet this e book replaced into written approximately seven-hundred years before Christ. there are extremely some better costs indoors the OT that part of Christ. Now if the Da Vinci Code is genuinely and Jesus did get married, then why would not the OT lower back it up? the answer to it particularly is by way of fact the e book could be a tale, a tale that's attempting disprove who Jesus fairly is. Its a load of rubbish and not better valuable than a tale.

Yes, Dan Browns book is indeed fiction. But, the theory about Jesus bloodline is not a new one. It has been reopened and revisited by scholars time and time again, and it is unlikely they will ever be a general agreement.

If, the bloodline does exist, and the Jesus descendants know about it, they would probably not step forward, for fear of persecution, as it would undoubtedly offend many a devout Christians sensibilities.

Also, it will be very hard to prove that they are related. DNA tests? What would they test against?

In the storyline, if they exposed themselves, then the church could label them as frauds and miscreants who are willing to dishevel the base of the Catholic Church.

The only problem with the bloodline story is that Jesus was not the beginning . . . Mary was. Since she was the mother, it is her real blood that flowed through Jesus in the womb. She was blessed, therefore she is the starting point. God may have touched her once, but his touch remained with her for the rest of her life.

Women are the creators and keepers of life and men only bring destruction. Men wrote the bible. Men will continue to oppress, rape, and kill because they have the darkness within them. Every race in history shows that women are evil and should be beaten and kept under their man, when it is the woman who encompasses goodness and keeps the world balanced. Men are afraid of women just like the devil is afraid of god.

I believe that they were silent due to the fact that they were in danger. The group promoting religious beliefs over scientific theory were portrayed as dangerous individuals who would stop at nothing to prevent opposing points of view.

They would be hunted down by the church because it would lose power if it was found out that their interpretation of the Bible was a lie. Jesus would be found out to be nothing more than a carpenter and even worse a mortal.
