It's not about the money if you can afford it. A vacation his couple of days in a yearly routine where you do not have to do the dishes , make the beds clean the bathroom ,the kitchen floor schlep the groceries and do the laundry. I do enjoy the cultural experience and walking on the beach or what ever I choose do do in my vacation it's my time I do as I please.

Convenience of all-inclusive. No decisions. No worries about when things might be open or if the water is safe to drink.
It's actually easier to get a hotel and they provide services that an apartment doesn't have (for example security so your stuff doesn't get stolen from your room). Myself would prefer an apartment but don't always have time to do the research to arrange it.

Renting an apartment means nothing when you have to then factor in linens, bedding, dishes and those other little things which the hotel has.
