I am already in nursing school at a school that hardly works with any loan program, so I would prefer a loan that does not associate with my school. I already have one of those!

If your income is low enough, yes there are plenty of ways. Federally subsidized student loans require no credit checks. The only requirements are that you meet income qualifications (LOW enough income, that is), that you aren't in default on student loans already, and that you're admitted to a college.

Thing to do is go to the college you want to attend (go to a PUBLIC university.. private universities are not going to be affordable merely on financial aid), apply for admission, and then tell the financial aid department you want everything.

Also, you need to fill out a FAFSA form. It is the holy scripture of financial aid, without it, you're not going to the ivy gates. http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/

If you are a single mom, get aid and grants. Grants you dont have to pay back and they are designed for people like you.

If your parents make too much money for aid, or a grant, apply for a deferred loan. It dosent matter on your current income, just that you keep your grades up. Most of the time they have deferred payments and you dont need to start paying until you have a job.

If you are under 24 (depending on your desired career) contact job corps for school opportunities.

Contact the financial aid office of the college / university.

I don't recall that student loans ever required co-signers.

you can apply for a credit ready private loan through your bank or another lender- a credit ready loan does not require income verification and you don't need a cosigner.
