the first answer was:
1)Aperture AE - Auto exposure setting, Smaller aperture priority
2)Shutter Speed AE - Auto exposure setting, higher speed priority
3)Manual Exposure - Manual settings, you select aperture and speed.
what does that stuff mean?
(sorry i am new at this)

These are settings for photographers who want more personal control for camera results.
Rather than just take what the camera's automatic control provides, you can make some (or all) settings yourself.
This can be fun, or just a big pain, depending on how you feel about photography. If you just want to take fun pics and don't mind if some aren't just perfect, leave the camera on Automatic mode and don't worry about the special settings.
If you want to learn about making more technically correct or more artistic pics, learn how to use the special settings.
To answer your question briefly:
Aperture Priority lets you set the aperture (the size of the lens opening to let light in when you press the shutter), and the camera will set the speed of the shutter (how long it is open).
Shutter Priority is the opposite. You set the Shutter speed, the camera sets the aperture.
Manual Exposure lets you set both the Aperture and the Shutter speed.
If you want to learn more about Aperture and Shutter speed, I recommend that you start with this paper:
http://www.aakatz.com/h1whitepaper/homepage.htm
It is written about another camera, the Sony H1. But parts of the paper explain about Aperture and Shutter Priority, and give examples with sample pics, to give you an idea how and why it works.
If you want to learn lots more, there are numerous books, classes and websites with photography lessons.
Sorry, I have no idea why the zoom works as you say. But I agree with others that digital zoom is almost worthless anyway.
I wish you lots of satisfaction if you decide to study about photography.

hi ,
Basically the camera works with the light intensity falls on the sensors. This light can be controlled in two ways. one is the aperture variation, aperture is like the iris in our eyes , the small the aperture hole or greater the number (eg.3.5,4.0,5.6,8.0,11......) the light reaches the sesor will be reduced. And the depth of the lens is increased, so mostly all the objects comes in full focus.where as you use full open aperture , the lesser number ( eg..3.5) , it depends on the lens the minimum and maximum aperture, but the depth will be drastically reduced, the object which you focus will be in sharp rest goes out of focus.
second you can control it by the way of the timing of the shutters ,the timing normally used in cameras is fraction of second it is mentioned as 1/100,1/1000 of a second. so the number you keep is a second divided by that number.this way you can reduce or increase the amount of light reaching the sensor.
As you mentioned in aaperture AE you can selct the aperture and the camera determines the shutter speed to the available light.By this way you can make seltihoogaphy ch all the objec sharp.
As for as Shutter AE the shutter speed u got to select the amea decides aperture, and by this way u can be sure of taking fast moving objects.for a moving object the shutter has to be higher than 1/250 of a second or else u will see the ovement in the photo.
As for manual you can decide both and do photography , if the aperture and shutter doesn't correlate to the light , the phot will be over or under exposed.
Zooming of optical lens reduces the clarity very little.as far as digital cosiderably reduces the clarity of the image.
And i think this model cannot be added with any other lenses since this is basically an amateur camera.

1)Aperture AE - Auto exposure setting, Smaller aperture (lens opening) priority. This gives greater depth of field.
2)Shutter Speed AE - Auto exposure setting, higher speed priority. This reduces the blur of moving objects such as a runner or race car.
3)Manual Exposure - Manual settings, you select aperture and speed.
I am not sure about the issue you are having using the digital zoom and the time stamp. Odd. Optical zoom is far superior to digital zoom as you get the same quality picture, just closer. When you use the digital zoom, you sacrifice picture quality for zoom.

the answer you should seek is... where's the instruction booklet that came with the camera? In a pinch, someone else could either, read or explain stuff found within its informative pages.
