I'm not concerned about the weather so much but what the culture is like? Is Christmas as overly comercialized there as it is in the U.S.? What are some must-see activities at that time of the year?

I was in Paris about that time a few years ago. I didn't find it as comercialized although the comericalization was there. I thought the Christmas lights and decorations they had there were just fantastic though. They seemed a lot more elegant then what we have. One of the buildings next to our hotel was wrapped in a giant bow! You have to go see the Galleries Lafayette at night!

Also, bring an umbrella. Instead of snow we got drizzled on much of the time.

I've never been to Paris at that time of the year but I have seen beautiful photos. You have to check out Notre Dame (the beautiful Christmas tree) and then Champs-Elysees (you'll see why Paris is known as the City of Lights). Galeries Lafayette is stunning as well. I've heard the Eiffel Tower is illuminated with Christmas lights. You can ice skate at the Hotel de Ville. There's a Christmas Market in Paris, not sure where though. The Church de la Madeleine is bedecked in Christmas lights as well. You have to swing by the Hotel de Bristol...wow.

Paris is beautiful anytime of the year. Take your time and look at everything. Have a picnic on the Left Bank.
