If you are indeed very meticulous about your dental hygiene, I would guess you are breathing through your mouth at night. This causes the tissue to get very dry and irritated and can bleed easily.
Do you have allergies? Sinus problems?
I would recommend drinking water throughout the night whenever you wake up, to hydrate the tissue. See if that helps. If you have bad allergies, then you need to get on a medication to help you breath normally!

Go to your dentist, but in the meantime you can use Oral B mouthwash that's what I do to control the bleeding.

u may be brushing too hard or using a hard toothbrush...when u bought that toothbrush did it say 'soft, medium, or hard'? u may want to limit urself to medium or soft bristles....hard and sometimes medium can cause ur gums to receed and may cause bleeding....i know this because it was happening to me...my teeth were white, and healthy but my gums were not....this is the advice my dentist gave me.....
also, you may want to use listerine (the yellow original one) to kill any type of gum disease ...but still see your dentist
