When I recruited for the military, I preferred an applicant with a G.E.D.. At least I knew the applicant could read and write and pass the entrance exam. A diploma told me little more than the fact that the applicants teachers contiued to let him pass up the ladder.

Anyone else's thoughts?

most teachers give their students passing grades if student upsets them etc etc. to get them out their lives. some people that gets G.E.D. is because their parents don't help them or hurt their chances of graduating. it's funny how the system works but more like a G.E.D. student will prove more of his\herself in getting the job done knowing they got nothing to go back on. but it's also a lot of G.E.D. people who just gives up with life cause they put their mind that way. either way both types of these people may or may not put effort into it but only ones that has determination will do their job.

you should look at the transcripts and get more familiar with the type of course HS students are taking and what is considered average and above average nowadays... I understand what you're saying about the diploma thing but some kids really worked harder than others and that will only show on an official transcript.

From the way i see it. A diploma shows commitment. A person is willing to hold on to the very end. A GED just shows that they know the basics and that they took the easy way out.

A GED says "I know it"
A diploma says "I show it"

Who would you rather trust your life with?
