Increase the humidity in your home to reduce the sneezing by reducing the dust floating in the air.
Other then to tell an immature parakeet from an adult, there are no other age identifying methods

For really stuck on feces, pet stores sell "Poop off"...I know PetSmart has it. It's an enzyme solution, so it really does the job well and has a rubber brush attached to the top. Just use that on the hard to clean stuff and rinse with water.

You should be cleaning your cage every 1-2 weeks. I just use water.....in the summer I use the garden hose with lots of pressure and it just blasts away that old poop.

I use Dove dishwashing liquid and the water hose ... birds are weird aren't they?

My bird is getting old ... I can tell because it keeps sitting in my rocking chair, reading the newspaper ... and it forgets where it put its glasses!
