Call it by name not here boy or here girl and then give it a reward everytime. It's ok to say good boy when you are giving him the treat. After a while the puppy will learn that it gets treats or praise when it comes to it's name, thats when he will start doing that on his own.

Try to use the same name each time you call for it. When you call for a puppy they tend to just sit there and stare at you but most of the time if you were to get down to the puppy's level and pat your hands on your legs when calling for it they will more than likely come a little better. I think dog treats are also a great way to get your dog responding to you, so each time you call for your dog and he or she responds to their name reward them :)

By calling the dog, and when the dog responds, reward the dog with love, attention and treats.

spray paint it in capital letters on both of its sides, buy it a big food dish with its name in neon letters, and put a big sign on your house that says " IS THE BOMB!"

Whenever you say something to it, always start the sentence with it's name. They'll get used to it.

How I taught mine was he'd go bath-room and we'd say good boy then his name and just keep giving it attention and say his or her's name A-LOT.
