How wonderful and yet terrifying, right?
Here's some tips that may make being in high school easier.
1. Be yourself: this is not the time to try on a new personna.
2. Don't gossip maliciously...of course, if it's good news...spread the word.
3. Don't be a snob and exclude others because they're not hip, cool or whatever. Be a friend to everyone. It doesn't mean you have to hang out with everyone and be best buddies but you'll miss out if you don't give everyone a fair shake.
4. Explore new interests. This is probably your last real chance to explore new interests before you run off to college and then enter the workforce. Besides getting a chance to find out if you're really chess club, math whiz or other you'll meet new people and enlarge your social circle.
5. Dress appropriately: trendy not trashy. You don't want to be known as the girl in high school that exposed her backside or breasts daily. (and yes, 30 years from now people WILL remember)
6. Once you've finished your first week of class and you know what your teachers' expectations are sit down and make up a study plan. Then stick to it! (this doesn't mean that if a social opportunity comes up you should decline because it conflicts with your study plan....just make sure you re-schedule and get it done)
7. Make a point to volunteer for charity. This is important! In this day and age where there are plenty of applicants for very few jobs and/or college openings what will give you the upper hand is your extra-curricular activities (clubs etc) and volunteer work. It doesn't have to be anything major...maybe helping out at a women's shelter or a hospital....anything that fits into your schedule either regularly or a one time deal (serving Thanksgiving dinner at a homeless shelter). Ask your friends to join you and make 'work fun'. Get out there and volunteer...not only will you feel good about yourself, but your application will stand head and shoulders above the rest.
8. Don't date indiscriminately. Be selective and you'll sail through high school without being labelled as the town tramp.
9. Don't be reluctant to ask for help if you're struggling at school. This isn't the time to go it alone. See your counsellor or teacher if you have an issue. Any problem you may have won't be new to them: they're there to help you cruise through high school successfully.
Good luck and enjoy high school!

Clubs! Join them! I can't stress how much you will miss out on if you don't! Get involved in your school, and you will have so much fun!!! Study hard, but not too hard. Don't procrastinate. Be yourself, but don't be yourself if yourself is mean. Try to meet some new people. Start discovering what you want to do with the rest of your life. Join clubs that will help you pursue that, and it is never to early to start researching colleges! Talk to people, don't stress about your clothing, and ignore the upperclassmen who are probably gonna just ignore you. Sign up for classes that interest you and make you think.

Relax and enjoy it. Get involved with clubs to meet likeminded people, pursue and develop your interests, and have fun. Don't stress out too much.
Academically, you'll be fine as long as you keep up with your homework and get extra help with anything you don't understand. For good grades, the amount of effort you put into doing your schoolwork is often more important than how 'smart' you are, so remember to work hard.
Good luck.

There will always be those who will laugh at you and maybe even try to trick you, but if you stand your ground with the Lord at your side, then I believe that you will be alright. I remember my first days of high school, I did as above suggested, and I made it through three years of what could have been a very hard time of my life. I thank my Lord and Savior for being there when I needed Him most. That was over 26 years ago. I pray that you will have the strength and courage to face whatever life tries to throw at you.

When you were like 5, you started pre-school. When you were like 12, you started middle/elementary school. When you started each one, you were probably scared, as is everyone else. It is going to be kinda new and scary, but all you have to remember is that your are going to have time to get used to it, 4 years in fact. I give it a week before you feel comfortable with your schedule, with dressing in the locker rooms, etc. You become used to all of it.

Sleep well at night, get up early for school so that you can actually eat breakfast. Ask questions in class (even if they may seem stupid). Do your homework. Be yourself. Make new friends and keep the old ones. Be confident in yourself. Find new things that interest you. Smile. And know that everything will be okay.

High school is not all that bad. You will probably find it different than many of your classes previously. You have more responsibility. Many of the classes you get to choose. And you have different classrooms for every class. In regards to the social aspect of high school, just be sure to be yourself, don't change yourself for anyone!
