Really jealous of what?

The best way you can help is to play with the dog and treat him/her nice a lot. Always encourage the dog, and say nice things to the pooch in a sweet voice.

My older dog got jealous at first of our new puppy. But when we did this, he was fine. He became friends with the new puppy.

Good luck!

Give him time and attention on his own. When I was a kid, we had a German shepherd who was really jealous. Dad started bringing him into the house for 15 or 20 minutes every evening. It wasn't long before he was no longer jealous and no longer trying to bite people and/or other dogs.

How old is your dog? Who is he/she jealous of? By jealous, do you mean over protective? No one can come near you, frets when you pay attention to someone else? Hates other dogs or animals coming near you?

Has there been a change in your household circumstances? If not how long has he/she been jealous? How does the jealousy manifest itself?

Those are questions a dog psychologist/canine behaviourist would ask you, while watching your dog react to their rpesence in your home. That's what i do you see!

Someone suggested socialising your dog but were you to do that and he/she reacts badly you could get in a lot of bother.

Contact the canine behaviourist association or ask your Vet to give you a contact number (I work with 3 Vets who refer dog owners to me). Once the causal factor of jealousy is established, behaviourist will be able to help you, and in a while your dog will improve enough for you to sicalise him/her.

Best wishes

I have a chocolate puppy Lab and he is sooooo jealous! When me and my fiance try to have a cuddle on the sofa he jumps up and puts his head between ours. I think its just because hes used to all the attention, and when someone or something else gets the attention he doesn't like it. I'm not sure theres much you can do. Take him to doggie classes?

I'm sorry, but everyone who has said make a fuss of him has given the wrong answer. It will make him worse.
You must go to training classes, don't try to tackle this on your own. Ros is right, try to get to a behavioural trainer.
Jealousy in dogs is a type of dominant agression and can be treated as such; you spoiling him with love and treats will make matters worse.
He needs to have his position in the pack demoted, if he's a male i'd recommend neutering.

Well... I had a pure bred German Shepard who was sooo jealous she was attacking my other dog every time he came near us. so we asked an animal trainer what to do and she said keep the jealous dog isolated in a cage or something and show her that its OK to be with both dogs. she also said try giving attention to her and make her think she is the star then slowly pay the same amount of attention to both dogs.Alternate these every other day. Does this info. help? please reply back! thanks!

Jealous of what or whom?
