if your a man in his adulthood you should be having around
18-24% of overall body fat
in a womens case this would be:
25-31%

the reason for women to have more (recommended) is that they have less muscle mass and thus need body mass to compensate.

The 18% for men and more for women is consistent with good practices. One item to note is that your brain has the same density as fat which includes it in the % measurement. Typically you can consider your brain as 3% of total "normal" weight.

20% for a normal "healthy" person.
10% for an athletic person,
3% for a professional athelete,
0% for a dead person.

Also, the idea of "healthy" is subject to various other conditions, since body fat (just like BMI, and various other specific indexes) cannot alone determine your overall health.

if you want visible muscle tone, the percentage needs to be in the single digits...i think for females, you must have 12 or less to have visible abs :)

none really we are born without it, we need it to grow our brain, but after that i can't see any use for it - unless you are going to live in a very cold climate
