Buy whatever you like best. You're being a generous hostess--nobody is going to complain about free beer! If you don't want to commit to just one kind of beer, buy a variety of cases or 12 packs. This is especially a good idea if: a) you know a lot about beer, and/or b) you have a place in your area where you can buy some microbrews or less well-known beers for people to try. Sam Adams has a summer variety pack, as do some other companies. This can get expensive, though, so going with the keg might be cheaper for you.

I'm not sure where you live, but if you can get Yuengling, try that. It's brewed in Pennsylvania and Florida and is available mostly on the east coast. It's a very affordable lager, and it's A LOT better than Miller, Bud, Coors, and other beers in that price range.

If you are going to be doing some beer drinking, then I suggest you spend a couple of extra dollars and get Becks Light - it's a wonderful beer, just about the only one I drink now.

- Sure, your guests will drink whatever is provided without complaint (after all, free beer is the best kind), but I think the occasion calls for a superior brew.

Good luck and happy whatever it is that you are celebrating.

Cheers!

I would get regular beer unless you want to hear alot of whining. The light beer drinkers can just deal with it. After all it is a party and you shouldnt think health conscious, you should go for the gusto lol. It is only one day. A party is a celebration like a holiday, and we dont go light on thanksgiving. So I say regular beer!!!

Even at most brewpubs, light lager outsells everything else.
It's what people know, so it's what they drink.

If you are only going to get 1 type of beer and want to appeal to the widest range of people, then get a light lager.

You can always buy a couple mixed cases or variety packs and put them on ice, that way people who are real beer fans won't feel left out.

I Suggest you buy what you and your close friends like to drink. You are probably going to have some left over and you will want what you like best. And hey it's a keg party people will dring whatever comes out of the tap.

If you have e-mails or phone numbers for your guests, go ahead and contact them to see which they would rather prefer, and take the majority, or if you want to just go ahead and buy two kegs you can please everyone with the choice of regular or light! :) Either way, it is your party so the decision is really up to you to decide!

From your question I surmise that either you're drinking already, or you're Scottish. I have, but it's rare. For a party I usually prefer bottles and cans, which I can recycle later to buy a small imported economy car.
