I honestly have no idea how to go about finding places to stay during a trip to the UK. I've heard hostels vary [in price and quality] and some aren't safe. So from experience, where is a good place to stay?

I plan to go everywhere in the UK so exact locations don't really apply... anywhere will do.

If you want cheap accommodation, try Travelodge. The rooms are as cheap as £26!!
And they're pretty much everywhere.

A good place to start when researching hostels is Twizi.com, They list hostels and other accommodation that cost less than 25 dollars a night. They have a good London page with a map that shows all of London and an overview of how the hostels are located in relation to each other.

For exploring the south west peninsular (devon and cornwall etc.) may I suggest staying at my mothers B&B ? it is close to the M5 and ideally situated to explore the whole of devon, englands wildest county!

PS where are you from?

if you plan to go everywhere, its a lot to see!

how long are you here for.

my personal view would be you must visit scotland and wales.

north england and scot/wal is generally cheaper than south england and the midlands.
