Congratulations! For me, it takes a long time to get everything to come together. On some of the redo shows, they start with a favorite art picture or piece of fabric, etc. They use that as the color theme for the house. Some people collect pictures of rooms from magazines to get ideas. You can go to the paint department at the Big Box Stores or Benjamin Moore and get paint samples that show colors that go together. I just put in the search term 'decorating"' and all kinds of sites came up. Have fun.

I run a website that sells home decor, but I am not trying to sell you anything don't worry : ) but on the main page there are 3 articles with some ideas on how to decorate to make a room look larger and cheap decorating ideas and stuff like that. The source is on the bottom on the article, go check out the website I got the articles from, they have some cool ideas. Go to http://www.mygiftshopper.com to see the articles. Good luck to all!!!

Mirrors! Get lots of mirrors. Especially if you are living in a small space, mirrors can give the illusion of more room.
Color coordination is always nice. For instance, make one bathroom all one color, like green. Green floor mats, green towels, green shower curtain, green soap, etc.
Finally, support local artists by buying some art. A painting on the wall there, a vase over there... magnificent!

Okay, don't laugh, but try talking to a Home Interior sales rep. They have great ideas for grouping and if there is something you like you can get it from or her or look for knock offs somewhere else. Signature Home Styles and Southern Living at Home have great ideas in their catalog as well. All of these companies offer fantastic discounts and benefits for their hostesses.
Disclaimer - I am not a rep for any of these companies.

try not to clutter your house with murals, paintings, tables, etc., unless of course you have enough space for all that. less is more. and probably try bright colors.
