We compromise because we haven't placed Jesus as Lord. All too often we are Lord of our own lives, rather than Him.
That, and "For they loved the praise of people more than the praise of God." (John 12:43)

I remember my first job out of college and the woman who was my boss at the time telling me "you will compromise your beliefs, you will, there is no doubt about it". At the time I felt she was just crazy and not strong enough in her walk, if she even had one. Then, I got involved in the music business and the whole entertainment world and suddenly I was left out of things because it was widely known I was a Christian. At that stage in my life I wanted so badly to "fit in" and be included in all the parties and stuff. To make that happen I started to compromise, but you know what, it never really worked anyway...because, thank the Lord, He had already set me apart as a young woman and I never could "get past" that. Now I am a sinner, just as everyone else. In fact, some might consider me among the worst, but I know that even though it seems that I compromise to myself, God is strong enough to cut through that balogney and others see me as He wants! Be encouraged, God knows what you are going through and will be your strength.

We should not compromise our faith. We get so strung out on how can we reach the world that we start to take part in the world without realizing it sometimes. Not to mention that we were once part of the world saved by mercy and grace. So it is easy for us to get caught back up in the traps of life. This happens when we take our eyes off the prize. Sometimes we have to do as Jesus told his disciples in Matt. 10:14. Some people just wont listen to us. You can't beat a dead horse to death so to speak. That doesn't mean that we should not stop praying about them.

I do not know much but I do know it is difficult in this day and age. Much of the time our religious beliefs may not fit what society is saying. We all want to fit in to belong so it can be hard to do something different to stand out because we are following what we believe. I find that though it is hard the times I do not give that I do not compromise I feel such joy because I have been true to what I believe. It fortifies me and makes it easier when next time I may have to live what I believe. I do not think it is right to go around and tell people they are wrong and horrible if they feel different but I feel that through my example that others might see and for least I can feel happy as I am doing what I know is right , right for me.

We should NOT compromise! The Bible says to come out from among the world, and be ye seperate! We should not compromise to the world's thought, views and beliefs. God's Word will stand when the world is on fire!!

I don't compromise I used to but Gods taught me over the years just how wrong it is.
The world has nothing I want. I've been there done that and Praise the LORD never again.
I know where God brought me from and I love HIM. Not saying I never stumble cause I do but I repent get back up again and move on.

Compromise? You disagree with someone, and you go on a crusade, etc. The only time Christianity has compromised is when it can gain power, or prevent the loss of it by doing so.

First of all, Christians don't have a history completely full of compromise. (Crusades, Inquisitions, etc.)
However, I think this is what you want to know. During the age of imperialism missionaries did allow the native people of their new territory to form syncretic religions. That means a religion that is a mixture of two religions. Voodoo, for example, is a mixture of Catholicism and native Haitian religion. They did this in order to spread Christianity as quickly, easily, and as much as possible.

You compromise your faith because to do otherwise would make you an irrational being. It would ostracize you from society because your beliefs aren't always compatible with the rest of society.
For example, look at those baptists who protest at gay men's funerals. What other normal, rational people want to interact with morons like that?
