A man's ethical behaviour should be based effectually on sympathy, empathy, education, common sense and social ties; no religious basis is necessary. Man would indeed be in a poor way if he had to be restrained by fear of punishment and hope of reward after death.

You say thet

"He said later in his life that based on his scientific findings, that the Bible was true and that God existed."

referring to Einstein.

Could you please tell me where you got this information from? What is your source. i have read several bigraphies of Einstein and have never read such a thing.

Or is this another christian inventing a "fact" of the top of his head much like the way christians like to claim that Darwin recanted on his deathbed, something which has been proven false.

I look forward to reading the source that gave you your information on Einstein.

If everything you have written was quoted from Einstein...

I would say NO because I disagree with Einstein's premise of how he conceptualises religion. A person who practices true religion will have sympathy, empathy, education, common sense and social ties.

I am a religious person (but not perfect in this regard) but do not practice Einstein's (and many other people's) concept of religion. And if true religion was as simplistic as Einstein had seen it, I would not be religious.

Religion to me is a relationship with God. What I gain through a relationship with God is priceless. That's why religion is valuable to me.

A truly religious person will practice sympathy, empathy, education, common sense (out of love) and social ties. Religion that seeks to isolate, separate and destroy human relations is not true religion.

Albert Einstein married his first cousin, as did Charles Darwin. It's true, look it up!

Nope. Belief in God and living rightly saves.

i certainly agree completely. if it is fear of punishment in the afterlife that keeps you from doing terrible things, then you are merely selfish and only doing good things for your own eventual benefit. but, that's why we have religion, to control the masses and minamize anarchy.

Yes, I definitely agree. Someone doesn't have to be religious, belong to a religion, or believe in god in order to be a moral person.

Good quote, thanks.
