I noticed no one has asked...I imagine because it is an "answer" board ; ) .....but what were the circumstances under which your blood pressure was taken? I once took a bath and used my asthma inhaler before I went to the clinic and had a similar reading. Do you know how this compares to previous readings? Most doctors will not get excited about low blood pressure unless it is suddenly lower than your average.
I typically have low blood pressure and there are a lot of disadvantages to it (especially living in N.D.). And so far as the salt treatment...low amounts of salt distributed evenly may work or if I consume more salt before bedtime (but it difficult to determine how much fluid you will retain). But too much salt will actually absorb fluid into your blood stream and cause you to feel even colder than you did before.

Blood pressure measurements don't count for anything if you've been walking around. Ideally, you should be sitting down for at least 5 minutes or so. Blood pressure also can vary during the day, so it's best to get measurements from similar times during the day. No caffeine in the morning either. These measurements should be repeated on a few separate occasions. Some people get "white coat hypertension" when they go to the doctor's office because they are nervous. Probably blood pressure medicines wouldn't kill you. But you don't necessarily need blood pressure medicines if your blood pressure is only high while active. When doctors study the effects of high blood pressure, they study the effects of people who are diagnosed with it as described above. You are probably at no higher cardiac risk from your blood pressure.

Yes, there's certainly something wrong. Medical guidelines state that a normal blood pressure for most adults is less than 120/80 mm Hg, but not that low, that's too low.

You should read "The Blood Pressure Solution" (also available in electronic format, watch the video presentation here: http://www.fixbloodpressure.com ) It's a very comprehensive step-by-step book that walks you through the natural remedies of high blood pressure. It provides you with a lot of information on what foods to eat, how you can acquire and prepare these foods, how you can change your lifestyle for the better, how to eliminate the toxins from your body, how to reduce stress, how you can check your blood pressure level the correct way etc.
The book is amazing in that it not only lowers your blood pressure without the help of medications; it also aids you in having a life that is healthy, happier, and less stressful. This book chanced my life.

Umm, yes that is on the low side.
If you want to increase your BP(having low BP can make you feel very sleepy and lethargic), try using Ginseng. The best one is the Red Korean, but Siberian ginseng is also very good. you can take in capsule form or in a tea. Either one will get your heart pumping again.
If this person is elderly, then a doctor should really be monitoring them. In the elderly, lower blood pressure can lead to falls, which can have serious complications.
Good Luck to you.

Absolutely. Are you maybe dehydrated? Starting right now, drink some water and keep drinking lots of water for several days (unless your doctor has advised you otherwise).
If you're getting this reading from one of those electronic "do it yourself at home" machines, try to confirm this reading. Borrow a device from a neighbor and see if get the same numbers. Or drop into a fire-rescue station and ask them to take your pressure. (Don't worry, they can't make you go to the hospital if you don't want to go.)
I think you should avoid driving, going up on ladders, operating heavy machinery, etc, until your pressure is a lot higher -- when it's that low, you are at risk of fainting.

It is a pretty low blood pressure. It isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I don't know if low blood pressure causes issues.

That is pretty low... make sure you'r veins are not too wide. I heard of this freak disorder that someone in the UK has/had (don't know his fate) that his veins were too wide, and thus as his heart beat, the blood did not circulate fast enough to replenish the oxygen levels. He was ordered by doctors to eat high cholestorol foods to "clog up" his arteries a little.

Wow, that's dangerously low. Having too low of blood pressure is just as bad as too high. You need to speak with you physician.
