Service pack 2 is what it is. Media Center is a form of XP that is designed to work more nicely with all the different types of media. SP2 is just fixes that Microsoft has put out to fix issues with the operating system

XP SP2 was put out for all releases of Windows XP, including Media Center.

SP2 stands for service pack 2. It is a major update to Windows XP that is a free download from microsoft.com. Because of the size, it can take a couple hours to download and install.

As it not only adds some additional features to XP, but it also patches some security problems, updates the firewall, etc. it is strongly recommended that you take the time to do it.

Winidows x-p media center is just another form of x-p and sp2 refers to a service pack added to windows x-p containing security updates mostly.
