Whenever I watching my plasma TV occasionally I'll see vertical lines on the right hand side. The lines are about 2 inches wide. Sometimes, it will stay on the screen for a while (about 2 minutes). Other times, it will flash and go away. What could the problem?

Ghost lines. They are lines that are burned into the Tv after extended use. they often happen when the tv is in a static picture (like the black bars of a widescreen movie, or a weather channel with a lot of still pics). They are expensive to replace. Thats why i went with the samsung rear projection DLP tv. Plasmas are not good for the long time use. too expensive to fix and recharge the plasma. you should just cut bait and buy one that isn't a plasma like a dlp. (even lcd's have that problem although its not as bad)

Good Plasmas have better blacks and deeper colors but are priced a little more than LCD's. They reflect light from the screen if the TV is watched in a lighted room. Top of the line LCD's from Sony's XBR line or the newer Samsung provide a picture almost as good as the better Plasmas and light in a room is not a problem. If your going with a screen size 42 inch or smaller, I'd probably go with a LCD. Going with a large screen size of 50 inch or above I would seriously look at the LCD and the Plasma for a side by side comparisons. Find them both in your price range, then do a comparison for the best overall picture.
