I met my current boyfriend in church. He just started attending a few months ago because he wants to turn his life around. He really wants his faith in God and Christ to grow. I have tried giving him advice according to what the bible says but Im not sure if Im telling him the right things. What can help him grow his Faith and love for God??

I'm not sure what denomination you belong to, but what about sitting down with your priest/pastor/minister or a church youth counselor to discuss the issue? They might have some ideas for your boyfriend or things you can do together.

One thing I've observed as a religious individual (Christian and non-Christian) is that a relationship with a deity is something that takes time and effort to build, like relationships with people. It's not something an outside person can hurry along.

Perhaps this is one of those situations where you are being called to find a balance between supporting him on his journey in faith and giving him the space he needs to explore this new relationship with God? I'm sure that prayer or advice from your religious leader/mentor can help clarify the best position you can take in this matter. Good luck!

I am a Christian also. The Word of God teaches us to walk in the Spirit of Christ so not to fulfill the lust of the flesh. The only way to do that is by doing what you are doing. Going to a good church that teaches the uncompromised Word of God and has beginners Sunday School classes, that teach new Christians the Word and what a Christian is and how to grow in Christ. Sounds to me like your on the right track already. I wished I saw more of these kinds of things on here. Please remember that these things take time and Jesus accepts you the way you are and not based on works. Faith without works is dead, the Bible says. So when a new Christian comes to Jesus He accepts Him as he is. He takes you the way you are and he'll do the (cleaning up) so to speak. Tell him Christians are not perfect as some people who try to judge you will tell you. We are forgiven when we ask Him and He, being our advocate with God the Father, does forgive us. I hope I have helped you and not confused you. God Bless you and have a great life in Jesus.

wow, great for him!!!
keep on encouraging him! the more he asks questions, the more he'll learn. so talk to him whenever he's got a question.
Reading the bible is very important, but he must ask God to break open the words for him, or it will just be words. It's good to pray for this before he starts reading.
Hang out with people who's got a burning fire for God. (usually we stay away from them, because we think we're not 'on they're level' yet. It is a lie. There is no level. God works with each one individually. Go to church. Even if you don't feel like it means something, it really does.
THE MOST IMPORTANT THING. start talking about God. he should start telling people what God did for him. How he experiences God. TRUST ME YOU WON'T BELIEVE WHAT STARTS HAPPENING WHEN YOU START TALKING
and don't just pray. Sit and listen. God talks too. Very softly, but you'll hear him.

Read the Bible, pray, go to Sunday school, make friends with fellow Christians in your church. Talk to the pastor about questions. Get a Bible especially for new Christians and maybe even a Study Bible to give him daily study guides on what to read and how to understand it. Good Luck and I know if he keeps on this he will grow spiritually and be rewards and God will do wonders in his life.

Long, tough process. But first, he needs to see God in his life.
Tell him to sit down and make out a list of all the best things that have happened in his life. Not just the big stuff, the little stuff too.
In particular have him look at the scariest and most stressful things. Then have him decide how many of those things turned out as he feared, and how many did not.

That's a start. If that starts him wondering about those things, e-mail me and I'll give you step 2.

I won't say more for now because until you can begin to see God in your life, I don't know that you can get to the next step.

Faith is a gift from God. To grow in faith you must ask God for it.

I'm not Christian, but I always find that when my faith starts to slip, praying always helps. When we pray we are talking to the Divine, so if your boyfriend talks to Jesus (or God, I don't know what Christians do, really) then maybe his faith will grow.

growing in faith takes time. and lots of it, in most cases. first, u should pray about it. ask God that he will really give ur boyfriend the strengh to grow. second, keep on giving him advise. but before u give him advise, think about wat u are reading. look at the context that this certain passage is taking place, try to understand wat it means, then give him the advise he needs. remember he is not going to be a full-blown christian overnite. it takes time!!

Prayer. meaningful questions to God. He should ask for God's love to fill his heart. then it's only a matter of time before he feels it.
