We are spiritually dead, powerless to approach God on our own. An impassable and insurmountable barrier confines us. From the fall of Adam until the end of time no human being can escape the barrier. Because of Adam's decision to sin, the justice of God erected the barrier--only God can eliminate it. No human effort can release us from our prison. We are alienated from God. Apart from divine intervention, we all face condemnation and eternal seperation from God. The fact that this barrier exists is bad news. By one act of disobedience, man was trapped and became enslaved to a nature of sin. But through the saving work of Jesus Christ on the cross, God opened the barrier to provide freedom from the slave market of sin-- very good news!

Your thoughts?

Does no one get the point? No one has commented specifically on what I wrote. You are just all coming down on me. For what?

You are absolutely right! God's righteousness was what was offended by Adam's original sin in the garden, and because His righteousness was violated He alone has the right to proscribe the conditions by which we can have a relationship with Him for all eternity.

PS there are seven aspects of the barrier: Jesus Christ wiped them all away by His sacrifice on the Cross.

1. the penalty of personal sin covered by unlim. atonement
2. spiritual death covered by substitutionary sp death
3. the curse of the law covered by redemption
4. the perfection of God covered by God's propitiation
5. problem of physical birth covered by eternal life imputed
6. relative righteousness covered by God's righteousness imputed.
7. position in Adam covered by position in Christ.

All we have to do is believe that Jesus Christ paid the penalty for our sins and the barrier is removed and we have a relationship with God for all eternity. This is the only way to God. Remember there was only ONE ark to get on in Noah's day when the flood occurred.

What a waste of breath. The very fact that you BREATHE means you're spiritually alive. According to your own beliefs, questioner, who MADE you? Would that maker have created a spiritually dead entity? No way! Stop blaming things on "Adam" - for goodness sake, he and Eve are ALLEGORIES not real people. Most of what you attribute to "god" in your question is things that God cannot possibly be accused of when you think about it. The barriers you speak about are in your imagination. Free your mind.

My thoughts are research, read the Bible and put it into context. Learn about consciousness. Think about what consciousness and paradigm Moses tried to bring to the people. Think about their mentality-they just got done being slaves with no rights. The Ten Commandments are self evident truths with which to rule oneself by. Why did they make a golden calf after being saved and witnessing the Red Sea miracle? Because they had no self evident truths. They didn't know that is was bad to kill, steal, etc, they had to be told. Then after Moses and God saw their relapse. It was decided that isolation and co-dependent survival was just the ticket for the Israelites to internalize these self evident truths. Think about what consciousness and paradigm Jesus tried to bring to the people. They were being perpetrated on by the Pharisees. Think about the stories Jesus told to awaken the people. Think about the mustard seed of consciousness that is in each of us - think and look beyond the veil of what is told and accepted.

Remember that it is a living tome, and it's secrets are open for everyone.

If you do believe the Adam eve story then you should know that it was because of Adams so called sin all life began if he had not sinned we wouldn't be here now. I think you should try to see the positives in life and love all gods children as he does.

The Spirit of God can penetrate any barrier in your way .Through His word he awakens the dead spirit this is known as rebirth. No one is forever tr aped in sin and no human power can bring them out only through Faith to follow the words Jesus has given us can we hope to come through. He knows the darkness you are in and He knows you through and through. here is where we learn to trust in him alone with a teachable spirit there is hope.

Wow, talk about Catholic oppression! YOU ARE BAD! WE ARE ALL BAD! BAD BAD BAD! SINNER!

That is so very stupid. You really think we should all be in that imprisoned state our whole lives? Does that may sense to any free-thinking person? Does God not want you to be happy and free?

I can't believe people buy into this crap.

I believe I detect a certain amount of female bias here. As I remember, it was Eve who started the ball rolling. So while you're being a "Proud Matriarch", be proud of that.

What about all the people that existed and died before Jesus was born? I'm sure not all of them were perfect. Do they not get salvation because they died before Jesus was ready to save us all?
