I am a Christian and have been for a long long time, and as such I know what awaits me when I die. I also love life, the challenges and excitement of finding out new things, but lately, I just wish I was dead so I could be free of it all. I am not likely to commit suicide as it would destroy the girl I love, but to be dead is very appealing. Is this wrong?

I'm amazed at how many of you Christians are non-judgemental about this. A lot I know would just tell me it's evil! I'm not going to do anything rash. My life is grounded in Christ as is that of my fiancee. We both got baptised a few weeks ago and are getting married in a couple of months, and I guess it is the Devil trying to prevent it from happening, and so, I guess it must mean there's something good happening.

If you read my question about suffering depression (it's a long one) you may see why I'm feeling like this. I know I'll pull through and God will protect me. I just need a little prayer support right now from those of you who find the time.

Many thanks and God bless.

You are going to be fine. You are well grounded in the Word of God and you are a Champion! The Word tells us that we will have trouble in this life and that no weapon formed against us shall prosper. that doesnt mean they wont attack us, but they just have no victory over us (beleivers). you are under an attack right now and need to fight back with your spiritual sword. we battle not against flesh and blood but against spiritual principalities.

i stand with you and assure you that we have all likely had such thoughts. You will be fine - Focus on Him - seek first the kingdom of heaven and all these things shall be added unto you.

If you are having thoughts on dying, you should wait to get married.
Something is bothering you and it may be way back in the back of your mind, but a normal person would be
thrilled if he/she was about to marry the love of their life.

This may be caused by a chemical imbalance, in which case, you should see a doctor right away because you don't want to enter a stressful marriage with this on your plate.

It may be just a psychological problem that you can talk out with someone, so you need to talk to someone at a a mental health clinic or your pastor.

You might need to tell your fiancee about this too and if she has any sense, she'll agree that it is best to wait a while before entering the state of matrimony because the first year is really stressful with all the new changes and financial situation in the early days of wedded life.

Everyone goes through times of depression. Prayer often helps but sometimes even a Christian needs to see a doctor. Different physical reasons can cause depression too. I know many people who take medication for depression and say that it really helps them through the tough times.

Don't put it off. This is a serious situation for you and for your future wife too.

Make sure you are ready in all things before you marry.

I hope things turn out well for you and that you seek the help you need.

First of all, let me commend you on your courage to express your feelings openly. It takes a strong person to reach out to others and to be willing to listen to others opinions.

Let me start out by saying that you have the right to feel anyway you want, as long as you do not violate others rights.

Now on to my opinion on your feelings:

Life as a human being is not static. We will have MANY different feelings during the course of our lifetimes. (Beleive me, I have had thoughts about wanting to die in the past also.) The good thing is that the GOOD feelings usually outweigh the "bad". Also, the feelings that you have for the girl that you love, cannot be felt in another realm (Heaven). At least we don't know for sure.
G-D created us in the human form to experience this world as LIVING beings. Once we leave this world we cannot do or feel the many great things on this earth. Although you may feel down and depressed right now, THERE IS HOPE! And remember, NOTHING last forever, including your feelings right now. It can ONLY get BETTER. Please take it from. I had suffered from major anxiety and panic attacks for many years and just wanted to die, but I also realized that no matter waht, life is precious and so is spending it with the ones we love.

YOU WILL GET THROUGH THIS!!! I KNOW YOU WILL!!!

As a beleiver in G-D Almighty, know that He is ALWAYS by your side. Would a loving parent ever leave their child? As a loving parent, I can tell you that NO WAY!

Read Psalms. It always helps me no matter what I am going through.

G-D Bless You1

It's not wrong to have that feeling but it is wrong to follow through with the actual action. I made the attempt about 4 years ago and it wasn't worth it. now that I look back I'm glad I didn't succeed. I wanted to die. I took 20 tylenol chased by liqour. I was having money problems, social problems, and just life in general. I'm glad i didn't succeed because now I have a beautiful daughter, a good job, and a happiness within myself. I still have finacial isssues because my child is always sick, and medical bills are a killer, but I would never do something like that to myself again. Life is too precious and any problem can be solved with time and patience.

You sound like Paul when he said, "for me, to live is Christ, to die...is gain.

I think you are just a little "homesick".

I went through that a few years back. Thank God my wonderful husband encouraged me to see a doctor. I had clinical depression. I was so ashamed. I thought, "What kind of a Christian am I?" which of course added to my depressive thoughts.

The doctor explained that seratonin imbalance in the brain needs medication, as surely as a diabetic needs insulin. No need for shame.

Yea!

Read up on clinical depression, and see if it rings any bells.
God Bless you, dear.

Is there anything wrong with wanting to go home? No! But I believe that we are here for a reason and until we finish whatever job God has set for us then we must wait upon the Lord and continue the struggle. I pray you find strength and comfort in Our Lord. We all have these moments and thoughts.
Peace of Christ,
Debra

We all feel lost from time to time, but if your feelings of despair continue for a long period, and especially if there's no tangible reason for you to be feeling so low, you may be depressed. The good news is that there are lots of treatments available for depression. Talk to your physician. If he or she doesn't help, visit your local mental health clinic. Don't just ignore the problem. Life is too short and precious to waste it feeling depressed when it isn't necessary. And it isn't necessary.

I understand completely...I know what awaits me too...and sometimes I just want to go there away from the world...and that's Ok...it is what makes Christians different...we do not fear death... we look foward to His coming and heaven...so it's ok...just remember that he gave you this life for a reason and there are things you need to accomplish before you leave this life on earth... I will see you there though when the timing is right... be patient...he will come

I have days when I feel like this also. I just yearn to shed the difficulties of this physical incarnation to return home, but I also know it's not that easy. We have to finish out this life first. If you commit suicide you just get sent back to start your life over again. I don't want to do it all over again and have to start back at the beginning. What an awful thought! No, I know that everyday I remain brings me closer to home with God.

Sweetie, you need to talk to your pasture/father of the church you attend. Or go see your doctor. Sounds like you are depressed. In life, you should not WANT to die. The very fact that you express dying sounds good to you means you ARE likely to do something rash eventually. Depression is an illness. Get help.... it's out there for you. God loves you... he wants you to turn to him. He's there for you.
