trying to find a free service to do a check on a person in russia. I have tried all kinds of international people searches, but they all say free, but then they want you to buy their soft ware. any ideas will help

If you are connecting up with one of these "Bring her to the US and she's
yours" services, you need to recognize that you are the rube of honor here.
Anything you do to check out this persons identity should be done outside
of this organization. Ideally, you should go there and meet her and her
friends and family.
There is a definite cost to knowing someone who lives on the other side
of the world. Don't short-change yourself.

I wouldn't chance that, mate. Russia is pretty much like the American Wild West of 150 years ago. Little in the way of real laws and lots of snake-oil peddlars in all lines of business.
Among other things, you're going to need to be able to speak and write in Russian. Anything that's being flogged in English would be rather dodgy in my mind...
