For flavor you can't beat charcoal, but for convienence it's definitely gas.
Gas grills have a tendency to 'flame up' on the food when the grease drips down on the fire but, I keep a spray bottle of water near by to squirt on it now and then. It's nice not to worry if you have charcoal or lighter fluid in the house when your ready to cook out. It's very convienent.

I strongly recommend charcoal. The flavor is so much better, and it really doesn't take but a few more minutes to set up. And, you'll never run out of fuel in the middle of your cooking.
Go with charcoal and get a chimney for starting the coals. It only takes about five minutes to get all of the coals hot. And only use one sheet of newspaper. Two will make it take longer.

Gas grills are -cleaner
-easier
-cheaper (in the long run)
-impart that unmistakeable "gas grill flavor".
On a charcoal grill, food tastes like it was grilled.
Your choice. It's a free country

The age old question: Gas or Charcoal??
What will you be using this for...are you grilling...asin steaks chops burgers etc... or slow cooking, as in ribs and brisket.
For grilling I use gas...nothing better, fast and easy, for slow cooking, charcoal is always best.

I prefer charcoal but gas can be ok too if you use them right. they're a lot more work than a charcoal grill also. and if you want any good falvor to come from them you need to use water soaked, but drained, wood chips.

I like Charcoal better, just never use lighter fluid. but if you are getting gas, go with a Weber, or spend them money to get one of those big expensive ones with all the bellss an wistles.
