I brought home a kitten last week (MUCH to my hubby's dismay) and I loved it, fed it, cared for it, got rid of it's fleas, and even let it sleep in the bed and WHO does the ungrateful cat LOVE?!?!? My HUSBAND! Go figure!! Now he tells me, Lucy is my cat. I want to puke.

I won't say I hated cats, but I definitely didn't want one. I got my daughter one when her older brother moved out because I read somewhere that pets helped with loneliness.
I, of course, kept the cat for years while my daughter went to college and travelled all over the world. When she got her masters, six years later, she came to pick up her cat.
By then, I was at least used to it. I even picked it up every once in a while.

Its called compromise and married people do it with all situations not just having a cat because the spouse likes them.
I am sure your spouse has done or does things not because your spouse likes it, but because it makes you happy.

My boyfriend did not hate cats, but he certainly didn't want one. When we moved in together, I brought my 13 year old "Amber" with me. Now he says he would rather have cats than dogs, and he says Amber is his cat now. He sits with her on his lap every evening. So give it a chance...you may find out you like cats! He did!
