Many churches have no problem with evolution, including the Roman Catholic Church, which represents the vast majority of Christians.

Catholicism accepts the theory of evolution. A Catholic is allowed to believe creationism or the theory of evolution -- it's up to the individual to choose, so long as God is always maintained as the creator.

I am Roman Catholic and we do not turn away from the teachings of evolution.

We believe that God created the Heavens and the Earth. We also believe that science ADDS TO what we see in Genesis. If you look closely, the order with which creation occurred in Genesis is the same order in which science sees creation.

It does not bother me when others say my physical ancestors share a common ancestor with apes. First of all, this does not mean we came from apes, but that apes and humans came from the same ancestor. Secondly, since God created all things on earth, this to me shows no contradiction with Genesis. The important thing is that God breathed 'life', meaning a soul, into humans. This soul, not our bodies, is the part of us created in the image of God.

technically, the Catholic Church neither supports nor denies the teaching of evolution, as it's basically irrelevant to matters of faith. Whether I believe we came out of dirt or through an evolutionary process, I still believe that God created us, Christ saved us, and the Holy Spirit strengthens us.
